Hi, A few days ago I got two new untamed adult/adolescent budgies. The male does not particularly like me, but tolerates my presence, and does not freak out when I come near the cage. The female, however, goes into her nesting area as soon as she sees me in the same room. I don't even see her at all. The question is, how do I build trust with her when she doesn't even allow me to be in the same as her? Also, she has eggs that are probably unfirtilised, but I am unable to remove them as she's always in the nesting area with the eggs, and moving it would definitely startle her. Please help! I'm a first time bird owner and am clueless about everything.

How long has she been on the eggs? If it has been a week or two, I'd leave her be for now, wait until she realises she is wasting her time and abandons them and then remove everything - nest and eggs. If she's only just laid eggs, think about replacing them with dummy eggs.
If these two were a bonded pair before you got them and had already started the egg laying, neither are going to be receptive to your presence. They will be in clutch-raising mode and you are an unwanted presence (predator) in their space. It is a weird time to be either laying or buying/selling birds who are nesting. Were they rescue birds? Whatever, you are going to have to be patient and wait your turn, but as a pair, be prepared for your presence to be tolerated only.

What's the perfect time to sell my pair of birds? While they're nesting, of course!
Whomever thought this way should hit me up for a night of drinks, but yes this struck me as being weird as well. I'm a first time bird owner as well, so I can only wish you good luck. Suppose I could share that if there's anything at all they respond positively to (music, food, toys), spam that sugar

Folks, I'm quite confident the original poster is trolling us. This was meant to rile us up.
