My poor vicious little Kevin is having a miserable time with his first moult. It all started off well, but today he's clearly not himself. He keeps fluffing up and looking sorry for himself. He's eating, drinking and flying about fine so I'm not worried it's anything other than moulting - two big flight feathers and nearly a handful of those little fluffy ones today. There has been one plus though.... Several times he's flown to me without being asked, and perched on my head or shoulder waiting to be told what a good boy he is, and he hasn't bitten me once today! Oh he'll be gorgeous when the spiky head is better.

Sam's first moult was a nightmare, he lost so many feathers he couldn't even fly, I started to worry he had French Moult.
I'm sure some TLC from his Mum will see him through it no problem, just keep the egg food handy 😄

I forgot about egg food 😲. I had to throw it all out after I had a mouse in my kitchen who found it, and I've never replaced it. I'll boil an egg for him this evening. He's a hungry wee blighter, he'll probably love it.

Aww!! Our molt over here is actually still going really well - Cypress had that one "bad" day where he is was a little sleepy and had the caked vent, but he has been all normal since. It seems like it's taking forever though.. already been almost a month and they still have fresh pins popping up.. I'm glad they are handling it soo well but part of me kind of wishes they would want comfort like your Kevin I'm excited for Cypress' adult colors though! His pale blue is turning all teal and the pale gray stripes on his back/wings are coming in more yellow. .. Right now it kinda looks like someone spattered him with pee, but, I'm sure it will be lovely when it's done

Oh I never thought about a colour change! Stuart had already had his first moult when I got him, so this is a first for me. Kev is white and sky blue, so I don't imagine that will change much. Looking forward to seeing him without his patchy stripes though!

Oh poor little Kevin is still suffering. He's covered in pinnies, and they look so sore. I've been giving him egg, but he's not been very interested, preferring millet and basil and to a lesser degree, spinach. He's also been taking lots of showers which seems to help a bit. I can't wait till this is over, the wee fella looks so scruffy, and he's obviously not enjoying this. 😞

When exactly did he start?
I thought it was supposed to take a few weeks.. but mine started at the end of June and they are nowhere near done!! Cypress still has patchy stripes on his head and Citrine's wing feathers are mismatched.
I hope they haven't "stalled out" or something.

I wish my Monty would eat some egg, can’t get him to touch it. He’s got pins all over his head and he’s so itchy - he’s rubbing his head off the perch, scratching and begging his mate to preen him by ducking his head at her and cheeping. It’s breaking my heart.

I would guess it's been a couple of weeks or so that he's been going through this. He just looks so scaby.... Such a shame.
