Thinking of calling the avian vet tomorrow to at least have a discussion about Yuki.
The day after he arrived there were no droppings on the bottom of the cage. They’d all stuck to his feathers and I had to wash them off. He had a few over the next couple of days that I washed but it cleared up. Now he still gets a few stuck but is capable of removing them himself.
But I’m not sure why it happens. He’s fairly heavy of feather. The poops look normal, aside from the first one of the day which tends to be larger as if he’s done a conure impression and held it a while. Every so often he appears to strain slightly more to pass one. Whether it falls or sticks seems to be hit or miss.
He has also had what appears to be a single vomit a few nights ago. There was no seed in it, it was just milky white fluid. It hasn’t happened again since. That was quite a hot night too. Been putting Guardian Angel in his water.
He looks healthy, doesn’t appear cold or lethargic, though he’s new here so balancing what might be illness versus what’s him being uncertain is hard. But he goes mad in attempts to come out of his cage. He’s eating and drinking fine, although he has a bit of a thing for not eating much early in the day and then eating a lot in the evening.
So I think I’ll see if I can have a chat about whether he needs to go in for a check up or anything.

I hope Yuki will be alright. Maybe he's not getting enough water? Sometimes when we have a low humidity day, poop will stick on Tweetie Pie's tail but usually falls off as he jumps around. Hopefully Yuki's problem is something simple.

Hopefully. He has access to water, but maybe doesn’t feel inclined. The weather’s been a bit weird here. Feels quite humid and muggy.

I think a lot of whether the poop falls or sticks depends on the way (and the where) the budgie perches. If they sit up straight the poop will almost always fall. If they tend to lie down or lean forward, I find this is when the poop is inclined to stick to their under-fluffies. Is this something that Yuki does?

He does appear to be a bit of a leaner. He leans forwards slightly and gets very wide around the base where all his feathers puff out. He looks more like he’s relaxed rather than cold though.
I was talking to the breeder yesterday and he was saying the same thing about some of the babies they have out the back of the shop that his coworker breeds. They’d had to clean up a few of those because they apparently like all but lying across a thick perch.

I hope it's nothing to worry about, budgie poops seem to be an obsession for all of us.
Talking to the vet hopefully puts your mind at rest.

Hopefully as he settles he will become more adept at keeping himself clean.

Budgie poop is a big obsession! Especially with new ones when you’re not sure what’s normal for them.
Definitely good to have it confirmed. The breeder is also keen to hear how he gets on, which is nice.
