Hi all, Thanks again for all your support during this time of worries about Charlie. I am pleased to report that he is at least holding his own. Between his quite frequent naps his demeanour and behaviour seem fairly normal. He doesn't really look ill. He is interacting with Tony (through the bars) and is preening. He is also eating well and today he weighed 35g. The last three home weigh-ins were 34g and at the vet's he was 32g. So, I am encouraged by this. I have been putting iodine solution on his lump twice a day, and it doesn't seem like this is painful for him. It is about 1cm in diameter and quite dark in colour. He is easy to pick up, but hangs on strongly with his feet, and he is quite strong in his wrigglings in my hand. I have spoken to Tony's breeder about getting one or two more youngsters, but I'm not really in a hurry if Charlie is not deteriorating quickly. I don't want a big gap while Tony is on his own when Charlie has to go though.

It's good he's putting on weight birdguhl, lovely pictures of them both. It's good he's got a wee best friend keeping him company.

Ohhh bless Charlie, this reminds me of when my dear JoJo had to move into his retirement home, he was quite happy and we had the visiting/chatting perches set up. He moved into retirement at around 11 and we lost him at 15 but he was happy till the end Great that he is gaining a little weight, well done chap

I'm glad to hear that Charlie seems to be happy and content; bless little Tony for keeping him company. That really is a posh "visitor's chair" that he has. My guys get a dolly peg, lol.

More progress to report re Charlie! I spoke to the vet this morning and told her that Charlie is bright, alert, vocal and interactive. He has been preening and eating well and again his weight is 36g. He is certainly not presenting as an ill budgie. She agreed it would be reasonable to let Charlie out of confinement so I opened up the door of his cage about 3 hours ago. It took him a wee bit of time to venture forth but when he did there was a very happy reunion between him and Tony. And as I type Charlie is being preened by Tony. It is lovely to see them so happy to be together, even if this turns out to be just a wee reprieve.

Let's hope it's a long reprieve. Everything is sounding good for him at the moment. Lovely to see the boys together.

Aww, I'm glad he's out and about birdguhl, I'm sure he's happier getting out to explore, and be spoilt by Tony.

We've reached a compromise - after fun and smooches with Tony, Charlie is now back in his cage. He will be nice and safe there overnight with lots of food all to himself and he can come out again to play tomorrow.

That sounds like a perfect plan birdguhl. It's great to hear that Charlie is doing so well and the time he spends with Tony will make them both so happy, bless them. Gorgeous pics too
