@sillycat84 My two guys instantly became best buddies as soon as I put them together and spent a lot of time together. This "honeymoon" lasted about a month and then each started to show more of his own personality. They are both still best buddies but I can see each exhibiting his own individuality. Take lots of pictures/videos during this phase - its so sweet!

tweetiepiesmom Good to know! I hope they’ll stay good friends, Yuki still has his moult to go through, but it’ll be good for them to be a bit more independent too. Indie seems to be quite a shy guy, waaay more active now he has another budgie around again, but still reluctant to be out. I’m hoping he’ll grow in confidence.

@sillycat84 your Yuki and Indie seem to be like my Buddy and Tweetie Pie! Tweetie Pie has come out of his shell since I put them together. Buddy does boss him around a bit but Tweetie Pie has started to stand his ground some. Tweetie Pie is also the first out when I open the door. He is still hand shy but if he's perched beside the food dish when I put my hand in to get it, he'll watch my hand closely but won't go running to the opposite side of the cage. Enjoy working with your guys!

tweetiepiesmom I hope they follow the example of your two then! I think I had my first bout of squiggling last night, because Indie is dreadful at going to bed. He was settled high up, as was Yuki, so I finished covering them up. Five minutes later, Indie is pinging around in the dark. Silence. Ten minutes later, Indie starts again and assuming he knocked into Yuki because then Yuki started too. Ended up uncovering the front of the cage so they could see where they were going. They finally ended up settling, both sharing a swing, which was adorable. Uncover them this morning, Indie is somewhere else again. Yuki was brave enough to come to my hand for food again this morning. And I’ve currently attached their food bowls to the outside of the cage to encourage Indie to come out. Trying to get him used to coming and going.

Just seen this thread. Looks like Yuki and Indie are getting along very well.

I think when budgies start living together, it takes a little while for them to get the social dynamics down. If you don't already have two swings in their cage, you might think about getting another one. When I put mine to bed and cover them, I leave one front corner of their cover up until I shut off all the lamps and go to bed myself. I've read many people here saying their budgies take a few minutes to sort out the sleeping arrangements when they get put to bed. It does sound if your guys will be good friends.

Marianne Marlow They’re getting along very well! tweetiepiesmom They had two swings, they just decided to share. And Indie seems to like sleeping on top of this other weird swinging toy rather than on a swing for whatever reason... he’s 50/50. I could try pegging open one corner of the cover. And hope Indie doesn’t just keep moving next to the light like he used to.

This is how I found the pair of them this morning. They do choose some odd places to sleep. These two certainly get along better than Munchy and Peri did. Munchy’s preening of Peri was always very half-hearted, like he wasn’t sure what to do. But then, love him, he had been an only bird for 8 years.

That is so funny @sillycat84! My Tweetie Pie Likes to sleep at the highest point in the cage but he also likes the feeling of being "enclosed". His sleeping perch is near the top of the cage in a corner with Buddy's swing on one side and a couple of toys the he can surround himself with. They are funny little things, aren't they.

Aww, Tweetie Pie, that's so adorable! They are, tweetiepiesmom. I find something to laugh or smile about with them every day.
