Hi there,
So i got 2 budgies, a male green one called kiwi (around 2 and half years) and a blue female one (around 3 and half years) chugu. I have tried forever for to get them hand trained but they simply do not like my or any family members hands. They are used to us, they follow me sometimes when i walk around, they scream for me if they havent seen me in a long time, they even eat off my hands. But as soon as the foods finished, back to biting. I let them bite it, they eventually stop and sit there slowly closing their eyes so I let them be and come back to try train. I have even tried placing my finger underneath their belly and pressing up tiny bit to see if they come on. they either run away or firmly have their feet on the floor to not get on what so ever. Its been a year and a half now of having them and I dont know what I may be doing wrong? Could it be some bad experience they had with a previous owner? One of them (green one) was hand trained and used to come up on my hand when I got it, after being with the blue one for a good few months, he stopped too. Mayne the blue one told him in bird language not to get on hands haha.
But anyway, any tips you guys found to help. They are not scared of me I think, they get so happy when they see me and sometimes run to me. But i guess they just dont like being touched at all.
Also another problem, the green one always seems to follow the female and chirp and tap its beak on the female one and chirps alot. Female seems to always get angry and open its beak and look like its going to bite. Is this normal? Are they trying to mate or what could that be?
