I'm not sure, Marianne Marlow, but I imagine foot colour is more like a spectrum. Hers appear somewhere in the middle.

I've not seen foot colour come up as a determining factor between mutations.

Read my thread about pink feet in the genetic mutation section HezzI've not seen foot colour come up as a determining factor between mutations.

I have, Marianne. I read (almost) everything. I suppose I was meaning more being a determining factor between similar and possibly easily confused mutations. Maybe the similarly coloured/marked buds have the same colour to their feet. And that would seem to be the case, reading a couple of threads from another (breeding) forum. Great debate and no clear answer.

Here's what we know: cinnamon is one of the minority of mutations where it is genetically not possible for the feet to be anything but pink. So I think Marianne Marlow 's question is to the point at hand--can barry 's hen be cinnamon if her feet are not clearly pink? I would guess the answer is no, but I cannot say for sure. I've never owned a cinnamon, or bred one or, for that matter, there's never been a single cinnamon chick in any clutch my birds have had. So I cannot speak from experience nor can I find a relevant example on line or in the literature. @sillycat84 raises an interesting notion--that there might be a spectrum, perhaps from pink to pink-grey, but again, I can find no other example anywhere.

I have a post, not on this forum, from a breeder who had two cinnamons - one with pink and one with grey, which obviously caused quite some debate. Unfortunately it was from a while ago when Photobucket was playing nice and so photos are not available for the thread.

Were you confident that the grey-footed one was indeed a cinnamon?

As I said, couldn't view the photos, if indeed they where photos of that particular part of the debate.

Yeah I've spent quite a few hours on reading genetics reports before creating this thread because I was still confused mainly about the cinnamon gene. Good to see it's not a straight shot answerable question.
Unfortunately I have no data for the parents. I got her from a young woman who bought it from a pet shop. She very much appears brown in most lighting, but the yellow in her wing feathers may be creating an optical illusion type thing with the markings.
Feet are much, much more pink than my newly acquired cock, but still nowhere near as pink as I see them feet in inos.
I'll be sure to make some pictures later, focussing on the markings and feet.
