Plushy eats so. Much. Food. He's on pellets, which is better than fattening seeds, but he still eats too much. Training is hard because the millet and seed sticks that I use are also calorie-loaded. Does anyone know of a healthier, leaner treat? Thanks!

Spinach leaves, a small slice of apple, carrot sticks... my 3 are all different in their tastes, they do tend to go for anything green. I'm not sure about prepared treats you can buy for them, I'm sure someone will know of a healthy product.

The younger one is interested, but is too lazy to try and actually take a bite.

churroandplushy I got my birds to eat their veggies by clipping them to the side of their cage over and easy to access perch - or their favorite perch if you know which one it is! They might ignore it for a few days, but they eventually become curious and start to play with it and should eventually eat some! Then it’s just a matter of time before they get used to the flavors and decide what they like. Veggies I’ve found that work well are spinach, broccoli, red/orange/yellow bell pepper (not green! It’s not ripe and can make them sick), cucumber, green beans sliced open lengthwise, and carrot. I take a carrot peeler and peel thick slices of carrot to clip, which is easier on their little beaks. I will clip about three kinds of veg to a few clips per cage each day and they get to eat what they like. I am also fortunate enough to have a large garden space so I grow millet grass for them, among other things, and cut a bunch of young grass for them to lay over their bath water dish and they just go nuts for that. If you have millet sprays the grass is really easy to grow thick - you could do it in a shallow tray In a sunny window - and when cut it will sprout up again just like lawn grass. Hope this helps!
