Lovely photos, what lucky buds you have there.......Not sure that your Rumi is a boy though, but I could be wrong .... Maybe someone would know better.

Congrats and good upon you for getting these two a great cage. So nice to see a couple of buds in a cage that is big enough to get lost in.

Hey thanks everybody! I'm proud of the cage too. We did good Ladybird - We're not sure either! I'll try to get up some closer photos of them later. Its ok if Rumi turns out to be girl.. but we call Rumi a "he" right now. His nose is definitely pink, but its kind of a purplish-pink, and much brighter and more vivid than Sappho's which has that chalky-white color on her cere, so we're pretty sure she's a female. We haven't gotten a phone call from the avian vet yet, we're still waiting patiently to get in (they're limiting visits to emergency only, and I believe not accepting new clients at this time due to Covid) but we were told that perhaps by October we could be seen so we might not officially know until then.

Blue48 - I'm glad they don't attack my nose ring.. I never thought about that.

Post a well-focused photo of the birds' faces, close up and face on and we should be able to tell you whether they are male or female. You don't need a vet visit for that; in fact as many vets get it wrong as get it right.
