They are so funny to watch, each one is so individual in personality - for example, Irie loves to preen, she's just snuck up on Squeak. She's a real cuddler, is Irie. It does look so empty without Lady Meep though, I know it will take a while to get used to. I was going to the vets to biopsy the mass in her vent today, but even it was what was causing her problems I don't think I could put her through the stress of an operation or other treatment - it's just too much for such a little bird. If it was the mass, it must've been growing at rapid speed and I don't think I would've been able to do anything about it. It was awful to see her in such pain, but I'm glad I was there with her to the very end and that she's no longer suffering. She is a beautiful angel now, reunited with my other beautiful angels I'm sure they all know how much myself and the other finches miss them, and how lucky I feel to have had them in my life, even for such a short time.

Don't feel guilty Starzie, you obviously give them a wonderful life! I agree with Marianne, they are obviously well looked after and very happy together. Just having these little creatures feeling comfortable enough with us for them to perch on us, is such a rewarding feeling. I hadn't ever heard of anyone having finches as pets - yours are probably the closest to it.

I hadn't ever heard of anyone having finches as pets - yours are probably the closest to it. I hadn't heard of finches being kept inside before either Hezz. I didn't realise that they could even be semi-tame. A testament to the love of their owner I think!

Thanks for all your lovely words, it really has been helpful to be able to let it all out on here.
I buried Lady Meep tonight, in the cherry tree pot. I'm so relieved that she isn't suffering any more. My little angel is in birdie heaven with half of her birdie family, and I know she's watching over the other half. We miss her though, I miss all of them but they are all such sweet angels now.

I've always loved your little family of Meeps. I don't know much about finches, but yours seem really engaging. And you've given Lady Meep a lovely send off.
