Agree with what ffiscool said. I haven't counted how many books I have on my kidle but its a lot and no warnings about limited storage. I'm not sure that being waterproof has any advantage for me because I don't hang out at the beach/pool or read in the bathtub. I do like the light because I read in bed. Sometimes when I wake up at night and can't get back to sleep, I like to read for a bit and the light allows me to do that comfortably without turning on lamps. It is very light and comfortable to hold. I was a die hard book person but after getting my kindle I converted. You've got a whole library in your hands and it is a big space saver when traveling.

My head is mush with all the reading I'm doing regarding it and watching videos on YouTube.
It's so expensive when you take in the cost of the kindle itself, (the paperwhite seems to get the best reviews), then you have to buy the charger separately, which seems a bit odd, if you buy a mobile phone you get the charger included in the box.
Then you have to buy a cover for it. 😱😱

samwiseg ffiscool does jellybean need to buy the charger? My kindle has a standard plug so I can use the charger for my portable gps and regular cell phone on it. jellybean if you already have a charger like that you may not need to buy the charger. Maybe someone could post a picture so you can see if you already have one. Electricity in the UK and US used to be different so when travelling to the UK, we always had to take a converter. Don't know if this is still true. Buddy says take a rest from it jellybean and think about something else and then go back to it with a fresh mind.

Aww good on yer Buddy for giving good advice In answer to your question tweetiepiesmom all kindles come with the usb lead to charge it via a computer or laptop. The "charger" they refer to is the "plug" that the USB lead can connect to, so that you can stick it in a plug socket to charge it. You can however, buy these as cheap as £1 on ebay. So Amazon is trying to get extra money out of you for no reason really Also, if you never intend to read outdoors I don't really understand the reason for the waterproof versions. Hope that helps you a bit more jellybean!

Ive got one of the first kindles, it's very old . I would much rather have a book in my hand but kindle is so useful especially for someone like me that can't wait for a particular book that i want and want it NOW . I have been thinking of updating it though, a back light would be great for bedtime reading

Let me know what you decide on skysmum. I know what you mean, I hate when I see a book that I want and the library don't have it. Think I'll go to PC World and have a look, that might help me decide, it means I get to see and hold them rather than looking at them on a web page.

you do not have to buy a charger.. the lead will come with it that goes into any usb port
the covers are so cheap either on eBay, I have had two from there, also other sites on Amazon itself.

Alexa reads 3 free books from audible each month. They're usually a couple of classics with a wild card thrown in. This month it is Black Beauty, Far from the Madding Crowd, and The reluctant dragon. There's also been Dickens and Bronte novels a few times. You ask 'Alexa, what audio books are free this month' and she tells you. I listen to them often.

I just asked her and she said "The Hobbit" and "The Great Gatsby". The selection probably varies from country to country.

Must be. I'd have liked those ones, although it was a throwback to my childhood listening to Black Beauty.
