Linda (German Shepherd) my childhood friend; Greenie (my lovely first budgie); Digger (my feisty first 'tiel who helped DeeDee learn to talk & interact); Ozzie ('tiel with a huge range of mimicry); Dundee ('tiel who helped me get through some horrible times); Snowy (rescue 'tiel who died too soon) & Beeper (the lovely, mischievous tiger puss with a purr like a B52). Rest in peace, my friends.

It's so hard when you lose an animal, I'm sure they all had a great life with you @cal.

I'm sorry you've lost so many pets, but I am sure you made them all very happy.

It is sad, but I have a huge collection of happy memories as I'm sure we all do. Every one of my pets has been unique in character but every one mischievous & daft (nothing to do with me, honestly ) I've always preferred animals to humans (kids excepted), it's always heart-breaking when death ends the bond between us & our pets. Here's a few memories from my "library": Mik was a rescue pup, dumped & found trotting down a road. When we got him he had mange only discovered when we started itching ourselves His noxious flatulations were legendary, so I trained him to leave the room when he expunged, as it were. He'd give me a filthy look, then slink off to his bed & return a few minutes later & creep back in with his belly on the floor. One time after a large Sunday lunch my family & rellies were snoozing. I went to wash up & the huge chunk of roast beef I'd left to cool had vanished. Mik was curled on his bed with a sheepish look & a belly like a barrel. I used to hang Digger's cage under a trellis festooned with honeysuckle where blackbirds used to nest. One day I noticed several lady blackbirds looking about enquiringly attracted by Digger's "I'm a blackbird today, I'm a blackbird & my trill's okay..." He had me convinced he'd morphed into one his mimicking was so good! Dundee would sit on my hook while I crocheted & try to bite it as it popped through the weave, bobbing up & down as I crocheted for ages. She was always on my shoulder, head or hanging off me somewhere, rarely in her cage. Beeper was a terror for my feet and ankles, I'd walk past furniture & be frightened half to death by a swift swipe of a paw on my toes or to find him hanging onto my laces or jeans legs dragging behind me. He loved to walk around the bathtub while I was bathing & one time fell in. He shot out the bathroom & down the stairs in three gigantic leaps - half fluffed up, half sopping wet. I couldn't get out for a long time for laughing. Even long after they've gone they still make me smile! It'd be lovely to hear other people's memories of past pets antics.
