I went to fill the kettle for my morning cuppa and... ...this flat ain't big enough for both of us, pal, out ya go! (Gently relocated to balcony via duster) That's pancake batter on the plug & sink btw - and on the worktops, the oven top & sides, floor & cupboards. DeeDee hasn't quite mastered using an electric whisk. I stay well back when she's cooking

That spidey was in heaven snacking on the pancake batter, @cal!
This past 6 months or so I have been pursuing campaigns against certain other species. Hundreds of snails have been rehomed to much more desirable accommodation (nearby river, outdoor museum and grounds of National Trust property) than my handful of containers in the courtyard. Some slugs too.
But many clothes moths have been dealt with by vac... Sorry, but I cannot be overrun by them. Also tiny wee spiders which make dense horizontal webs everywhere. I actually like spiders but what these wee ones do makes me feel the place is kinda derelict.
And in the last few weeks I have been deluged by fruit flies. Not the odd one doddering around annoyingly in front of your face, but hundreds. The vac has been deployed again...

There was quite a big spider on the living room a few days ago. I was fine about that.
But about two years ago I was really spooked when I was brushing my teeth one night, felt a tickling on my neck and a huge one was running up towards my face. That triggered a major freaking, and since I have been a bit more twitchy if there is one very nearby.

Poor little spidey. That reminds me, a few months ago, before we moved back home, I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and as I was washing my hands a large earwig landed on my arm. I didn't realise what it was until I brushed it off and it scampered away. I have not seen an earwig since I was a kid and those ones were tiny, this one was like giant daddy earwig! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earwig

The other day I saw a small lizard running across the living room floor. I opened the front door, grabbed the broom and swept it out the door. Hopefully it stays outside.

tweetiepiesmom you win on the exotic interloper front, so far! Good grief samwiseg you could put a lead on that and take it for a walk! My mum did have a tiny spider trapped in her ear for a week once. She kept hearing a really loud scrabbling noise, especially at night but she had no idea what it was. It took 2 visits to the GP before they realised what it was, syringed her ear and out it popped!!!
