I don't have the time at present to make budgie toys and the ones they have now are getting so tatty! So went on-line and did a bit of research, came up with these: The little trainer is so cute! No takers for any of them yet! Pip looked at the trainer like it had been dragged in off the street and flew away! She is the first one to investigate anything usually.

Lucky birds, once they get over their scary-monster fright. Is the kebab-y thing yukka?

Aw, I have a hanging string of little sneakers like that for Cypress and Citrine They have had it forever, but never touched it until this week. Now they are untying all the shoe laces and I'm suddenly glad they are fully flighted and not running around near my actual shoes I have that kebab hanging thing too - it hangs on one of their play gyms where they don't play with it a ton but do chew it from time to time. I need to try some of the finger traps.. they've never had those.

The long stringy thing is balsa, not touched that but it only went up this morning. The tubes are in their playbox, they will get there eventually as they LOVE the play box. The trainer went up on the top of the cage this morning too, so no takers again. Watch this space!!

Oh dear, I must tell what my boy did, or rather what his silly mum gave him to play with. I cut a cardboard tube (kitchen roll - not loo roll!) into shorter pieces and put a couple on the 'drawbridge' of his cage. Somehow, he managed to flip one up, over his head, and then he fell off. Because the tube was over his wings he couldn't spread them and plopped onto the floor. Luckily it wasn't far, the floor is carpeted and he was okay.
Feel free to tell me off, but I learned a lesson and the only place he plays with them now is on the floor.

Oh dear blue48! Did you stifle a laugh? Lesson learnt then!! Loo roll length is fine and so is kitchen roll length, Pip loves hers, she puts her head in one end to see what it is I have stuffed in the other end!! or tips them up and throws them on the floor, some mug will come along and soon pick them up and put them back! The paper tubes suesbird, ARE KILLERS!! And no budgie can go near them!!! The beautiful little trainer is soon to be without any sole!

Afterwards I laughed because it was like a comedy sketch, and I still chuckle when I think of it. At the time I jumped up and ran over to make sure he was okay and take it off. Poor Bertie, thank goodness he was okay or I'd never have forgiven myself.

Poor Bertie!! That's a good point blue48, Willow plays with the same shorter tube lengths so I'll make sure he only gets them on the floor now. I also crisscross 2 of the cardboard rings around one of his ping-pong balls and he likes that as he can manage a good 'grab and fling' from the top of his cage

I think it was just a fluke that he managed to flip it up and over him willowsmum, but it's good to be aware of the things that can happen. If he had fallen from a height, say from the top of his cage, the outcome might have been more serious.

God that would have scared me to death blue48! You could always cut down one side of the toilet roll to ensure that doesn't happen again
