Sorry to hear that Marianne, hope you all get better quick. I use Milk Thistle for one of my buds clt80, which reminds me, I must order some more. I put it in the water and everyone has it, doesn't overdose at all. Good luck with all your buds and look after yourself too.

The milk thistle has arrived! What dosage do you use Shirls? I think it was one of your posts I found when searching the forum that that suggested the nature's answer one. The ones inside are the same to be honest Marianne Marlow, quentin is particularly bad. I'm cleaning their bottoms daily with a warm cotton wool pad. They all get treated with s76 for mites but I've put a drop on their necks as well, quentin and Henry's, just as an added precaution. Spoke to the vets y'day and I'm picking up enough baytril today to treat the whole aviary.

What concentration is your milk thistle? Mine is 2000mg ... in what? Not very informative, but the highest concentration that they make, I think. I put four drops into 100mls of water, but I have worked up to that. Did the vet give any indication on what you should do, or how bad her jaundice was? When Misty's liver plays up he starts having vomiting periods, generally in the afternoon. There doesn't seem to be anything, or nothing I've been able to pin down, that sets him off, but it is short-lived and he is fine after an hour or two. Sometimes if he seems really down I will give him a drop orally, but mostly he does seem to get over it himself. The next morning I will often find that his droppings overnight are quite green but get better during the day. If he has had a couple of days in a row ( hasn't happened for I don't know how long) I would add an extra drop to the water.

clt80 and Hezz, I could only get the 595mg milk thistle last time, I even phoned the supplier and complained because they advertised on their website that it was 900mg, which is what we were used to, and they said it wasn't made at that strength any more!! I have just ordered a new one, from a different supplier at 1000mg, alcohol free, which is the strength I have always used. At present on the low one I put 10 drops in 200mls of water. Seems to suit, but you can adjust it to your needs.

It's the 585mg. I was looking for alcohol and sugar free and went for this one. Her droppings Hezz were blue, like turquoise, I'd never seen anything like it. The vet gave it a name, Billing-something, cant remember the word. She said its the red blood cells and its the liver, she's jaundice. I don't know why I always thought it was her kidneys. Shirls where do you buy the 1000mg one from please? Mabel is on 5 days of baytril so she won't have this in her water until monday. She was so poorly last September, and has been inside since summer. She picked up so has been outside for the past couple of months but she's gone downhill again. Still, she likes that big cage I bought and fettled about in it happily with Tom. I hope the milk thistle helps her.

Possibly Fran, I've just googled and it fits with the break down of the red blood cells. It says it's a yellow, but mabels was blue. Does sound the correct description otherwise.

clt80, I'm so sorry that more budgies are showing signs of illness and the milk thistle has not arrived Hope Ralph, Ron, Henry, Mabel and Quentin are okay. Get well soon Buds and stop stressing mummy! Eve has presented with a rash today, which is slightly worrying, we sent photos to the GP and they're getting back to us tomorrow morning. What did the gp say re Eve’s rash?

The doctor said it was a viral rash, caused by her body fighting off infection. It's pretty much gone now, but it was the kind of rash that disappears when it's pressed. She's also vomited twice - apparently common when babies/toddlers have a cold, but is awful to see and deal with. She's so snotty. We've been chasing her about trying to wipe her nose while she screams and cries. Hope she's well soon, my sanity is getting a bashing clt80, I'm so sorry that more budgies are showing signs of illness and the milk thistle has not arrived Hope Ralph, Ron, Henry, Mabel and Quentin are okay.
