Thank you everyone, Audrey has been very quiet and wanting me near, making such sad little tweets when I’m not. I’m keeping her close and will think about getting her another buddy if she still seems sad and lonely. Here is a picture of Esther alone, and with Audrey behind her..both beautiful ladies I think you’ll agree ❤️

Very pretty ladies. I'm sure AUdrey will be missing Esther.
Do you think Audrey she would respond to a mirror for company or is that one I see in the background of the two of them?

There is a mirror on their basketball toy but I’ve never seen them looking in it. I am considering getting another friend for Audrey..

I'm so sorry about little Esther, i too lost one very suddenly last week, no warning at all. They are such complex little souls but we give them the best we can while we have them and can do no more. I'm sure little Audrey would appreciate a new friend when the time is right

Esther was a beautiful little bud, as is Audrey.
It must be so hard for them suddenly losing their friend. Glad you're there keeping her company.
How did they get along together? Apart from when I was a teenager, I've never had hens.

I am considering getting another friend for Audrey.. I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Esther. She was indeed a beautiful young lady. Getting Audrey another companion in time may be a good idea if she does seem very lonely. Just to save you any potential future grief introducing a new birdie, I just wanted to mention that (though this isn’t always the case) often times a resident female will not accept a new female into her territory. Of course it can probably be worked around if you are adamant about keeping a same-sex pair as you previously had, but if you are not opposed to keeping an opposite sex pair it may be easier for Audrey to accept and bond with a new boy budgie. Egg-laying can usually be avoided simply by not providing a nestbox and making sure they get a full 12 hours of sleep at night. I hope this is helpful in your process of moving forwards. Thank you for sharing, although it is always sad to hear about the loss of a beloved pet, many have been where you are and by coming together in times of hardship we can sometimes find some good to come out of it. Fly free little Audrey.
