I'm a little worried about Tweetie Pie. For the past few days I've noticed that more often than not, when he eats seeds, he'll regurgitate right after - a few not everything. He seems more lethargic today, sitting more puffed up than normal. Is it normal, just maturing, change of daylight hours or could he be sick? His poops look normal. He eats as much as he always has although he has always been a picky eater. I tried putting Apple cider vinegar in the water but he wouldn't drink it. What do you think - is a vet trip in order?

How much ACV did you add to how much water? Three drops into 100mls is enough for a acidic pH and the birds don't even notice it. If you'd feel better having him checked by a vet, do so. It could be something or it could be nothing. It sounds like a bit of nothing to me but he's not my bird and I can't see him.

Thanks Hezz - I'll try the three drops in 100 ml water. I've been going back and forth trying to decide if its something. He's not regurgitating a lot of seeds, only about 5 or so seeds. I gave him a bauble of millet today while he sat on my finger. When he finished, he tucked up a foot, fluffed up and was going to take a nap on my finger. He's never done that before. He finishes his millet and then flies off so I was worried. Maybe its all part of him maturing and getting settled with me.

I hope he's OK tweetiepiesmom. Fingers crossed he's just had an 'off' few days and get's back to normal soon. Please let us know how he's doing.

I hope it's nothing serious, my Jesse & Max do this sometimes & it hasn't turned into anything the vet's needed to sort. I'm always on the alert for anything different in the buds' behaviour, I know how you concerned you must be! How's the cheeky rascal today?

We're all just getting up this morning. Buddy is chirping away and pestering Tweetie Pie to play like normal while Tweetie Pie sits there slowly waking up and ignoring Buddy like normal. Everything looks normal from overnight. I'll monitor Tweetie Pie during the day. Poor little guy looks miserable when he coughs up those seeds, but maybe that just my view and it is really normal.

I added three drops of ACV to the water this morning. I'll watch Tweetie Pie to see if he drinks it. He's "awake" now, chirping and chasing Buddy around. He seems ok, I just don't know how much regurgitating is normal. Buddy rarely regurgitates. Does that mean Tweetie Pie would probably be the better father? Not that it will ever happen.

It looks like Tweetie Pie was just having a couple off days. I did try the ACV. The first day I put 3 drops in 100 ml water. Neither drank. The second and third day I put 2 drops in 100ml and I didn't see either drink. Mid-afternoon on the third day was bath time. I put their "bath tub" in the cage with water. The first thing both boys did was go take a big drink. A good bath was then had by both.

I rarely notice my budgies drink and I have 8 budgies. But they definitely do drink!

They bathe in their drinking water bowl and drink from the bathing bowl... 😅 Life goal: To bathe in the drinking water, as soon as I have cleaned it and added fresh water! In the wild, the drinking and bathing water are same.. That's the culprit! 😀 P.S I have made a habit of feeding herbal tea/multivitamin water droplets using coriander stem to them, to ensure they drink that.. They love coriander stem, so I exploit it's usage.. Since I'm never sure they ever drink that water..

So Marianne Marlow I shouldn't give up too quickly on the ACV in the water dish? When I was using more ACV in the water, I did see Tweetie Pie go over, put his beak down and then leave before taking a drink. Maybe drinking the bath water is their way of testing it make sure its the right temperature?

I'd give it a while. 3 drops in 100ml really isn't much, taste it yourself.
Mine all drank it when they had it in their water (I had a bird that had avian gastric yeast and it did help him for a while)
