There is another avian vet not too far away. I called and they are only seeing emergency cases because they are fully booked. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow, many places close on Friday also and both vets near me will be closed until Mon. Its a terrible time to have a sick pet!
Tweetie Pie has been coming out of his cage to fly around a bit. Buddy's chasing him around wanting to play. Its taking me a long time to type this because when Tweetie Pie chases him off, Buddy insists on coming on my hand to play. I love it! Sometimes I'm very worried about Tweetie Pie and then I see him out and flying and think he'll be OK until next Tues. I'm in a quandary! They've just had a flying bout and Tweetie Pie's sitting on a perch coughing up seeds.

That's not a call I'd be prepared to make, not knowing how he is getting on.
I would call up the vet that you have the appointment with, explain the situation and ask their opinion. They may be prepared to take him in over the weekend, at least then he would be being monitored. Or if they don't feel that is necessary, perhaps they could give you some pointers as to what to do if he seems to get worse over the weekend. Have everything you need to make up that lactated ringer's solution just in case. I would be keeping the two separate, though, and try to keep him as calm as possible.

It's such a worry at any time but so much worse with vets closing for the holiday TPM, I feel for you. Also confusing that he's still so active and untroubled by it all which I hope is a good sign. I hope you manage to see or at least speak to someone to put your mind at rest.

I will be putting Tweetie Pie in the hospital cage today. Its such a small cage compared to their regular cage that I feel bad for him having to be in there, however, I'd feel even worse if Buddy got sick. Tweetie's overnight poop was a bit watery and green - maybe because most of the food getting to his stomach are the greens? He's acting like his normal self this morning. I noticed he's starting to go through a molt again. I found two wing feathers in his cage bottom. Today is Thanksgiving Thurs. I didn't get to talk to anyone at the vet's yesterday so I'll call them first thing tomorrow. Thanks for all your suggestions on what to do. Is this the solution you were talking about Hezz? • 8oz warm water • ½ tablespoon sugar • 1/8 teaspoon salt • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

I think my heart is breaking. Tweetie Pie got moved into the hospital cage which I placed beside the big cage with Buddy. Buddy has been calling to him. He's spent the entire time crawling over the cage bars on the side next to Buddy trying to figure out how to get back to Buddy. I'm so sad for him. I gave him his favorite wheat grass and pegged it to the side next to Buddy. He did take some nibbles and kept trying to find a way back to Buddy. Its so sad to watch. I had to quickly snap the picture while he was crawling around the hospital cage.

Remove any fresh food from his diet as well, for the time being. Make sure he is still eating, hanging a bit of millet spray in his cage can be helpful. Green poop might be from the fresh food or it can be a sign that a budgie isn't eating properly.

Thank you all. I'm waiting for the vet to open this morning. Tweetie Pie's overnight poop looks normal. He's currently eating his seeds. The two cages are facing each other. Buddy's missing Tweetie Pie not being in their cage for him to hassle this morning and he's been calling to him. Poor little guys!

Nothing available today. I'll call the vet again tomorrow. Meanwhile we are all getting stressed out. Tweetie Pie keeps crawling around the front of the hospital cage trying to get to Buddy. Both are calling back and forth. Buddy jumps on the front of his cage to get to Tweetie Pie. Seeing them doing that and hearing them is just killing me.

I feel so sorry! I had to keep Cookie and Breezie in separate cages for 2 days max, when cookie was hormonal and biting breezie, pulling his feathers.. They were doing the same. I've no idea what to tell.. maybe place a cloth in between so that they can't see one another.. i guess they will still try to do the same, on hearing each other's call. Is it possible to move one of them to another room, where they cannot listen each other - not sure if this would help tweetie pie or increase the stress levels. Tweetie pie should be resting and investing his energy to healing.
If I recall correctly, did you also change the seed mix brand for the birdies? The ones you were trying to sprout.. would the seedmix change affect that.. you had mentioned that the seeds had coating which changed the water color when sprouting.. just in case if all of this happened after changing the seed mix?

I called another avian vet and she said to bring him in and leave him, she'd look at him in between her other appointments. Tweetie Pie's with the vet now. Yes, mona, I did change the seed I was feeding. I had some of the old feed and went back to feeding them that. Curious, Buddy didn't get sick. Maybe they're like people and food might effect one without effecting the other.
