I had Stuart and Kevin in their travel cage the other day, and, being the untidy person that I am, I hadn't put it away. The door is open, there are two perches in it, no toys, and it's sitting on the floor. They have a fabulous big Vision L01 with lots of toys, food, mirror, perches etc. But where are they spending their day? In the little traditional budgie cage. They're having a nap in it now, after their preen. These two are free flying all day most days, and I'm starting to wonder if I should just give them their travel cage and save a bit of space in my living room! I wouldn't really do that but I will never understand them.

Funny you should post this reenie . When BertieB was a bit poorly a few weeks ago I spotted his neck with Ivermectin and then gave his cage a mega clean. I put his old cage in place of the new one while it was drying outside in the sunshine. BertieB was sitting on his swing in the room. When I came back he was sitting in his old cage looking comfortable and very much at home. I did wonder if he preferred the old to the new, or if a cage is just a cage. Edit: Bertie is free-flying all day too.

Ooooh i know this one so well. Mine have a big flight cage and i always keep a small "time out cage" open and next to the big cage. I often go in and find them ALL in the "time out cage", obviously they ALL need "time out" TOGETHER

Could it be the reason that they find the small travel cages safe, being covered at most sides? Or maybe they think they can travel outside, if they are in the travel cage! Or maybe they want to spend time in different "rooms"! π
Who knows?! Sometimes, I wonder if we had that collar from "UP" movie, which could translate the birdie language to human language... π
The current chirping would be a long story tale then for us! Ahh, the dream world! β€π

Perhaps whilst they love the big ones, itβs nice and cosy in the small. They just need a nice film to watch
