I have tried him with egg before and he wouldn’t touch it , but I didn’t grate it...how do you grate it? And white and yolk? Also, just sprinkle the guardian angle on it? sorry for all the questions. He is a very fussy eater, the only greens he will touch are rosemary and oregano and he has that every day....He has the packet egg food and likes that. Bit worried now that he will be short lived.....that’s me an awful worrier 🙁

Please don't worry. Hezz was talking about the feather duster budgies and Charlie is not one of those, but he may need a lot of protein to keep growing new feathers. Boil the egg, when cooled take off the shell - I roll it or bash the shell with a knife to dent it then pick it off. Cut egg in half - grate each half on a grater - hold the round side and grate the flat one.

Stick with the commercial eggfood if that is what he likes ladybird, does he like broccoli or carrot? A moult is really just something you have to wait out until they feel better within themselves, I've seen my boys under the weather for 2/3 weeks, only having short bursts of flight or play.

Thank you both. No he won’t touch carrot or broccoli, he is a real fussy eater. But he has Brarvo bird seed and their tonic seed....plus the greens I mentioned and the dried egg. But I will try grating an egg again...you never know! Fussy little Charlie but I love him to bits ❤️

Here's hoping he'll eat some of the egg with the Guardian Angel on it and perks up a bit. I feel for you having to wait it out and seeing him not his usual active self.

I boiled the egg and grated it , and to tempt him I added a tiny bit of red millet and mashed it well in. He meticulously sorted the white out and threw it on the floor, but while trying to get at the millet he definitely had to eat some yolk.....so I would say that’s a success ( apart from the egg white on the floor) ....

Moults can be very debilitating for birds sometimes hence requiring more protein in their diet. Is he open to eat things you eat? If so can you mimic eating some of the egg? I've found I have to do this with Nubbs now that he is on his own. But I did tell him that I wouldn't be eating dandelions with him

He's well enough to be fussy then. That seems like a good sign.

Samswing, I have tried everything to make him eat what I eat but he is just a fussy little ######. He does seem a little better today so that makes me feel better too. Having you lovely people on here to help is so reassuring for me........

You get grey hairs a lot quicker ladybird when you own budgies 😂😂 Glad the little fella seems a bit brighter today.

Agree with jellybean - stick with the eggfood if that is what he wants to eat. It has about double the protein value of a chook egg. Mine have never been interested in boiled egg.

Mine have never been interested in boiled egg. That's interesting Hezz and worth knowing

Vetafarm is at least; it's the one I use.

I usually use the cede one, but mine have always loved real egg. I am not sure if they eat the dry stuff or not, but I have it there, available for those times I don't have time to boil an egg. Vetafarm is at least; it's the one I use.
