Does anyone think I have over crowded the room with toys and it should have been less of the toys?
Here's a video of the two from yesterday. They use the old cage perches mostly through out the day. Only during night one of them sleeps on the new perch. They are not as comfortable as they were earlier, but that's something expected. Their singing has remained the same since yesterday. They have accidentally landed on few swings and perches, which should give them the confidence..
I really owe a big thank you to everyone for guiding me reg the cage setup, the tree stand, the diet and everything else that I have learnt here! It has been a roller coaster ride of learning & I'm sure there's a lot more to learn! 🧡

I don't think the cage or the room are overcrowded. You'll get to know it all better with time and tweaking things to better fit how they use everything. As long as they are happy.

That's a really nice cage mona , i can't see anything wrong at all, i would probably put the paper on top of the grid for the floor but apart from that is't Budgie heaven, no wonder they don't want to come out The rest of the room is great too, love the tree, two very happy little birds i think

Yay! Thank you for the inputs. skysmum newspaper is really easy to use as a cage liner, however, Indian newspaper contains toxic ink, as confirmed by my hubby, for his inspection at a newspaper factory. Also published by FSSAI ( food authority of India). I don't want them to chew on the newspaper. If I can get blank plain paper of this size easily, I will do that.. For now, I have to clean the base grill every day due to the paper liner in the bottom tray.. Apart from cleaning perspective, are there any other concerns? They go down to the base for food..walking on the base wouldn't hurt their feet, right?

Walking on the grill won't hurt their feet, but isn't as easy for them, of course. What a shame about the newspaper - cleaning the grill of budgie poop can be a pain!

Looks like budgie heaven Mona If your hubby inspects newspaper factories, could he procure some paper before it's printed?

Looks like budgie heaven Mona If your hubby inspects newspaper factories, could he procure some paper before it's printed? Actually, he audited one some time back. He is actually a food inspector/auditor and works in quality department.. So, that won't be possible. I'm thinking through what else can work. The cage top has bamboo mats and they are very easy to clean the poop..but cage top isn't being used for a long time. Using it as the cage liner might be more work for me!

Do you have takeaway food shops there that wrap their food in white paper like our fish and chip shops? Someone on here posted recently about buying that sort of food grade paper in bulk, but I can't find the post. Also I'm wondering if wall lining paper would be okay. One roll would last for ages. I noticed on Amazon that they sell rolls of paper for lining cages but I think that would be an expansive way of buying it.

I have seen Subway and Mc Donald wrapping like that, I guess. I haven't come across wall liner term..maybe it's wall paper? I could try looking into the food grade paper you mentioned.. Cage liners would be pretty expensive, if at all available here, blue48I recall there's something called butter paper, which is also food grade and should be easily available. The ones that are used here while baking cakes..

mona Wall liner paper is like plain wallpaper that you paint over. You use it to cover uneven or cracked walls. It's very cheap here, and is sold in wallpaper shops.

blue48 ahh.. okay. I guess that's not very popular over here. For now, I have added plain A4 size paper at three areas they use the most - eating, sleeping and playing. I think that works for now. Once they start exploring more areas in the cage.. that would change 😅 For those times, a toothbrush will be my friend for cleaning the base.. followed with a tissue paper wipe 🙈

A bird safe enzyme cleaner might help make the poop come off easier. I have one specifically for bird poop and another that is a highly concentrated water cleaner (for horses actually but safe for all animals if properly diluted) that I use less-diluted as a general household cleaner and they make my life so much easier! I bought and started using the second one to clean everything, especially oily stuff around the stove in the kitchen, and it works like a charm and is totally non-toxic for my birdies. Don’t know if they’d be available where you live but I’ll find the links.
