Beautiful, bouncy, green boy Joe had to be pts yesterday. He went down so rapidly a vet visit confirmed that nothing could be done, so the choice was no choice basically. He was such a stunning little birdie, I've only had him just over a year. Buddy looks a little forlorn now, as they were an item, but he's very good and I keep going over to talk to him. Joe is on the right in the first picture and at the bottom, next to Charlie, inside his batchelor pad, Buddy is sitting just above him.

Aw thank you everyone. The vet said it was an infection that had really taken hold over him. If he had a tumour or a growth or was run down in any way, he would have picked up an infection or virus very easily. She (the vet) said it could come from anywhere, the air, my hands (!!) or anything. I did explain to her how clean I keep my birds, as was concerned it was my fault. But with Covid around my hygiene has gone beyond OCD now, so how on earth did Joe get this? We will never know.

I’m sure it was definitely not to do with you. Sadly, it’s most likely to be one of those things.

I am so sorry to be reading this, Shirls. Joe was such a beautiful boy and will be missed terribly. It is hard for us when they go so quickly but best for them not to have to linger. You cannot blame yourself for whatever it might have been, these things are the crap that life throws at us sometimes. Big hugs to you and Buddy. Rest in peace, beautiful Joe. xx
