clt80 that would have been an awful shock, no wonder you were feeling dazed, shivering and going over it in your mind. I do hope you haven't been too sore and that you are still managing to take it easy until you heal. Take care x

I managed to go back to work yesterday, bit anxious driving, especially when stopping in the road to turn. Neck very uncomfortable, and getting hardly any sleep. Have rolled about all night, terrible. But, keep reminding myself I got off lightly and it could have been so much worse.

A little remedial therapy needed, it would seem. A very minor accident can see your confidence in driving shattered. It will slowly build, but I do hope you get some relief to sleep well.

If you feel, do get a checkup once for your neck. Neglecting minor injuries sometimes turn into a longer painful tenure.. If you don't feel so, just take some rest. Weekend is around, so it might help. Love and Hugs! 🤗 Get well soon!

Have you tried a soft collar? It can be made with a scarf not too tightly. It will provide warmth and also support your neck a bit.
If it feels like that’s not enough, perhaps a phone appt with your gp?

Thanks. I've been sitting with a wheat pack heated on it. I had a tel call with my gp yday, painkillers was suggested. It is easing in the daytime, it's when I lay down in bed.

As others have said and as you know, these things take time to heal up but it will heal. When you're in your 20's you can just shake it off and keep going. At my age, not so much! Sending healing thoughts your way.

clt80 I have got cervical.. sometimes the regular memory foam orthopedic pillow doesn't comfort me.. the cervical collar is extremely uncomfortable.. I have an orthopedic memory foam U pillow used for travel generally. I use that at times along with my regular pillow, when there's too much pain. Over the night neck support helps me recover fast. So, I understand that neck shoulder pain is extremely uncomfortable! I had been advised by the physiotherapist not to use a pillow if I sleep on my back, otherwise pillow is must. The problem is I keep rolling during sleep at all sides.. So, I ended up using memory foam pillows with travel U pillow sometimes. Provide some support to your neck, with whatever comfy you have at home, during night.. Neck shouldn't be in a tilted position when you sleep on your sides.. Did your doctor ask you to apply warm or cold compress?

Have rolled about all night, terrible. But, keep reminding myself I got off lightly and it could have been so much worse. I have arthritis in my spine which extends up into my neck. I blame years of nursing - when I first started there were no lifting aids or equipment. I have a 'V' shaped pillow to support my neck in bed and I love it so much I have even taken it on holiday with me because I can't sleep without it now. Dunelm are the best, and I use the £12 Fogarty one. I find the Dorma too firm and if you lived near me I would be quite happy to donate it, as I only used it once. Like sleeping on cement! www.dunelm.com/search?q=v+shaped+pillow

My neck is feeling a little better, but it was my mind last night in bed that I couldn't switch off. You know when your thoughts just go round and around. I was 40 this year so I certainly don't bounce back like I did when I was 20!

Glad to hear it is getting better, slowly but surely. I think we've all had nights where our brain just wouldn't turn off, so frustrating.

clt80 - I wish I had some useful advice to give and very glad others have been able to help. Although it’s a shame that car accidents are so common! I am so glad you seem to be getting better so far.
