Looking at adding a companion but not sure whether it is a male or female. In your opinion (depending on what sex you think it is) would a male or female companion be better? LINK TO PICTURE: ibb.co/nk5kPYSthanks🙂

Looks to me also like you have a hen! Hens are known to be territorial with other females, so I would recommend getting a male bird as a companion. It has also been recommended to introduce your current hen to the male’s new cage. This may be a good time to consider getting a larger cage for the two of them to share so they each have extra space, or if you don’t want to do that and the current cage is plenty big enough for two, you can temporarily put your current hen in a smaller cage (hopefully with plenty of outside time!) and the new male in the current bigger cage for the first month of quarantine. Then when they meet you can put your girl back in the original cage with the new boy and she won’t feel so much like her space is being invaded. This will help them get along better and bond faster. I’m sure some others will be on soon to help and clarify or add anything I missed. :3

Can we see a clear photo of the bird front on, please?
Regardless of whether this bird is male or female, a male is going to be the best fit - two hens will often fight, but two males almost always get on fine.

A pretty hen. Also agree with both Hezz and Morgan's comments regarding a male being the ideal partner. But if you do not intend them to breed then do not provide any nesting opportunities (dark corners, boxes, coconut shells etc)
