So, tonight my kitchen stinks if dirty water. Had this way back in old flat and it was the washing machine not pumping out properly. Then I could smell it in my machine and my washing wasn’t coming out smelling fresh.
my soil? pipes are shared with downstairs. Often I get smells from down there, but not had this one before. I’ve put soda and vinegar down my kitchen sink. I checked for leaks anywhere.
if it’s from downstairs, would it suggest a main drain?
we’re covered on our maintenance we pay if it’s something like that but if you call them out and it’s not a general thing, we pay.
ive got the number of a plumber to call if need be tomorrow, but thought if anyone had ideas, I could try that first

I would try caustic soda, ffiscoolI get the washing machine smell too if the machine is not used for a few days but I think it is just dirty water sitting in the drainage hose

I had the same problem and did this.
Pour down a kettle of boiling water. After a few minutes a cup of bicarbonate of soda, then a cup of white vinegar and leave for 5 minutes. Then another kettle of boiling water.
