It is a bit early but I'm on annual leave this week so I have taken an educated risk and introduced them early so that I can keep my eye on them for a good few days before I have to go back to work. (This last photo was hilarious because Munchy wouldn't stop preening and when I complained about it to Indie he gave Munchy a bop to get his attention! ) They seem to get along well enough. Munchy and Yuki haven't really interacted despite Yuki being the first over to the cage when Munchy came upstairs and being super interested looking when the cages were side by side. They seem to vary in who bops who to get the seed or millet. Indie goes between the two of them. His and Munchy's relationship ranges from Indie chasing Munchy, bopping Munchy to tell him not to touch, to chatting, feeding and preening each other... Munchy's quite happy to sit separate from the others outside. Maybe partly because he can't get a look in on the nearest windowsill. I think I'm going to shift the playgyms around so there's less potential for territoriality. He spent a lot of time on my laptop yesterday, and seemed to appreciate 5 minutes outside alone this evening. He's barely calling now but will still sometimes shout if I've left the room.

That seems to have gone really well @sillycat84, great pictures too.
I like the mat on top of your cage, do they play with it?

jellybean It's 4 woven grass mats tied together. Yuki and Munchy seem to like chewing at it, Yuki especially. It's good for keeping droppings from falling in and soiling the bowls.

Sounds like it's gone pretty well, @sillycat84! That first photo is funny - crying out for a caption!

Awe, you have done a fantastic job with them, evidenced by that first photo. I love the story with the third! It sounds like Munchy definitely has a new friend if he and Indie are already preening each other! Thatβs fantastic! I hope shy Yuki will be a good friend too, maybe when Munchy needs a break from Indie himself This is too sweet, definitely made me smile big!

birdguhl It does! Indie's look is because he had a precarious perch on the back of my hand gut it does give him this comical expression. Morgan Thank you! They may only respond to millet at times, but at least it allows me to move them about if needed. Yuki isn't usually shy, he's the bossier of him and Indie, but both he and Munchy move away from each other. skysmum I think you're right about that. He had 10 minutes out alone with us this evening and sort of melted on one of the nearby playgyms (which he can't get a look in on when they're all out) and it was like he was saying "thank goodness for some peace and quiet!". I think I'll set up the travel cage for him so he has a place to retreat to that's harder to access. I need to move the gyms about to see if Indie's being territorial of the windowsill or the gyms, or just being a bother.

They're great pics @sillycat84. It sounds like you're going to have a busy week off work. What better way to spend it than with your buds though

willowsmum It's great, until I want a nap! I'm not saying my bedroom belongs to the budgies but... I had to go hide wih my housemate in the livingroom to get anything done on my laptop the other day! The chaos is very entertaining though!

Ha, that's exactly as it should be @sillycat84 ! Buds ruling the roost so to speak What a fantastic set up! We are lucky that Willow can be moved easily between 4 different rooms depending on what's going on at home and all 3 of us work from home so he's always with at least 1 person. He's very good at spotting footsteps though and if he hears me walk past the room he's in he often contact calls - I admit I have been known to tiptoe past the door

It is! And they make use of spaces that we don't really use. They just like to schedule choir practice for when I'd like some peace. I could move them downstairs in the travel cage, but it's easier to move myself. Aww! That's so sweet! Just shows how special and important you are to him, willowsmum.

I might actually be glad to go back to work so that I don't have to clean up after them 3 days a week!
I love them, they're great, but the novelty of removing droppings from every surface of my bedroom and hoovering the carpet every single day wears off very quickly. Mainly because of irritations like putting the gyms away on top of the wardrobe only to remember that I haven't cleaned the top of the wardrobe yet.
And people say budgies are low maintainence.

Only someone who DOESN'T have budgies, would say they're "low maintenance" ππ

Reminds me of wanting to get budgies in the first instance, back in 2009. I said to my husband "It'll only cost a packet of seed a week" Ha ha. Only someone who DOESN'T have budgies, would say they're "low maintenance" ππ
