I'm sure Cookie does remember Breezie, maybe she remembers that he was unwell and so doesn't have that stress anymore.
But Budgies do tend to just get on with things. I have had budgies that were very sad and called for their friend for days and budgies that just fixated immediately on making another friend.
One even pulled at and mutilated his feathers. Cookies way of dealing is much better for her in the long run.

Agreed. Mom's Yeli was depressed for a long time.. one of her finches also kept searching and calling out to the one who left.. It's heartbreaking to see that!
Even I feel it's better she moved on with Berry.. she actually chased Piku around.. But Piku is devoted to Yeli, so there was a war.. ๐
๐ Her second choice was Moomoo, who is already bonded with mishty.. so he wasn't interested too ๐ She chased Berry for few minutes and they became friends.. ๐งก I think she had been feeling very lonely in a separate cage all alone, with Breezie in another cage. She wasn't happy seeing breezie with Mishty in his cage too.. Maybe it all worked out for good..

Lovely videos and photos. Breezie's little face is so beautiful. I'm glad Cookie has moved on. It was like that with my rabbits - when one died after 9 years the other was bothered at all and was actually happier. They were sisters rather than a bonded pair which I'm sure made a difference. Dexter was quite stressed after Criswell died and called for him for 2 days. It was heartbreaking.
I'm glad you have beautiful photos and videos of Breezie. He really was a special budgie.
