ffiscool Their current cage is Ok, I just wanted to get another cage I could use as a play\travel cage because the current travel cage is rusty.

I have been looking at a lot of recipes too. However, I'm never sure about adding honey to the seed treat.. also, with the flour as the ingredient, I want to be sure on when to remove the treat from the cage before it goes bad.. Or maybe make very tiny treats that they finish within a day.. These thoughts have held me back since a long time from making bird seed treats.. Instead honey and flour, I had been thinking of using chia seeds as a binding agent, since it swells with water and everything kind of sticks to it.. With that too, I would really prefer to make it really small that can be finished within a day to avoid any kind of microbial buildup 🤦♀️
I have seen a couple of people feeding the omelet recipe with addition of a variety of things the birdies don't like normally, but baked with microwave (on instagram).. Also, read up on birdie bread.. mostly people use pellets as base, which I don't have access to.. So I have been thinking of using something else as a base and add everything they haven't liked so far to incorporate those into their diet.. I don't like deep freezing anything and like to make it fresh and use it for 3 day when freezed normally.. (also, due to the fact that there's power cut over here & we don't have an inverter - don't like their food to thaw and refreeze). That would be hard with baking breads every other day..

I would also be wary of adding sugary things. A lot of these lovely treats you can buy in stores have too much sugar.
if you look at a list of healthy foods for budgies, you could then maybe make something that used those ingredients

Hi. I have been taming them, but somehow taming has reversed with Bluey and better with Biscuit. I recently offered them broccoli, and they LOVED it! So I kept feeding them that every morning. BIG mistake! Now Bluey just wants to have broccoli and will refuse to come on my hand unless he gets it. After I stopped giving him broccoli, he stepped up on to my hand and bit it, looking for it. He bit it really hard sometimes, and that hurt a lot but I know you're not supposed to yell or scream at them or punish them for doing it. Any idea why he bit really hard?? After he bit really hard he would bob his head and chirp. So now Bluey is scared of my hand and refuses to step up but now Biscuit sits there and preens, he takes every opportunity to get on my hand. Even yesterday I was cleaning his cage and I had to take them out I had to grab Biscuit, but after I finished cleaning and I started telling him to step up again he would eagerly do it. They fight a lot when my hand is in the cage and when they fight it's usually over my hand or a perch. It's annoying as Bluey grips on tight to my hand and stretches up to fight with Biscuit so those claws are ouch!! Anyone give me some advice as to tame Bluey now? Do you think separating will help? Any help is appreciated.

I would not separate them. I've noticed with my guys that whenever they discover a new food that they like, they want to eat it to the exclusion of everything else including their old favorite. I just keep offering them all their other foods and eventually they go back to eating everything. My two guys occasionally fight over food even though I have two dishes that are big enough for both. I leave them alone and they sort it out. Concerning the biting, I used Hezz suggestion with Buddy. When I offered them millet from my hand, Buddy would hop on and eat it. When it was all gone, he'd bite me sometimes with his wings outstretched like he was attacking. I tried to put him off my hand as soon as he finished but if I wasn't fast enough, Hezz suggested I make that awk awk noise budgies make when they are arguing with each other. It worked! He stopped biting long enough for me to put him off my hand. Buddy no longer bites.

I'm not very good at making the awk awk noise though- lol

The awk awk noise worked! Bluey has stopped biting completely and is more sociable with me.

Great news! I think sometimes they just go through a phase, sometimes it may just be hormones as they grow up.
