Well, after a few days in their own cages George has ventured into the big cage and was welcomed by BertieB. I did a move around of perches and toys this morning and added another feeder. So far so good. No squabbles but I'm not sure if I should let them share the same cage tonight? If the day goes without event will this be okay?

How sweet! Hopefully they are on their way to being fast friends.

Fingers, eyes and legs crossed tweetiepiesmom They are both chattering away. When one preens the other does too. Is that a 'thing'?

It is indeed. It is a way of showing the other that they are not a threat, they are in sync, on the same wavelength. Stretching is another thing you might see them do at the same time.

Yes, they do their wing stretches in sync too They spent the rest of the day together so I took the plunge and left them together last night. I covered the cage, dimmed the lights then sat there like a new mum just listening as the tweets got softer and then they were quiet. I went to bed but kept tiptoeing back in to check. This morning they were on the same perch when I uncovered them, with two little piles of poop that showed they had remained close through the night. This morning there was a moment when George wanted both the feeders and didn't seem to want BertieB anywhere near, but then they settled and both had breakfast. I am so happy for both of them. BertieB won't be lonely, and poor George who was messed around for the first year of his life has found somewhere he seems happy and has a friend. George is still not tame but he is used to me. Onwards and upwards.

I forgot to say. BertieB has already stopped talking but instead has become very 'tuneful'. Rather than a variation of tweets and squawks he's singing and it's lovely to hear.

So great to hear and see that George and Bertie B are getting on well together, blue48 - nothing like happy buds to warm the heart in difficult times.
