Just wondering if it could be also due to mites.. Read up a bit on air sac mites, not sure if those can be caused by the mites they have already on their body.
With mites, a lot of cleaning is required in the cage and their food bowls. Keep him warm.
Maybe contacting the vet would be the best option right now. Others might add some valuable inputs..

did some research on the air sac mites. Read that if not treated the mites will multiply and block the air passages, leading to death. how do I prevent this from happening? My avian vet is usually busy and will only prescribe medicine if we have consultation. he will not give medicine based on the symptoms, we have to bring the bird.

I have no experience with it. tweetiepiesmom, frankensteinsmother have been treating their birdies for vomiting due to infection, which could be deduced from tests performed on the birdie poop and swabs, etc.. Hezz and Marianne Marlow might be able to help too..

I do think that a vet visit is needed to properly diagnose an infection. Marianne Marlow and Hezz might be able to give you some ideas on what to look for.

That's where Frankie's tail bobbing was at its worst and it scared the bejeezus out of me. Mine wasn't sneezing or vomiting but he definitely had something bacterial because the antibiotics worked. I would try to get into an avian vet's as soon as possible, because from what I understand there's just no way to treat a sick bird with elbow grease (as much as I wish it could be done!), and you sound like a caring person that will be worried until you do know what's going on with your li'l bird. If it makes you feel at all better, you're not the only one with a really inconvenient avian vet situation. Seems to be kinda a thing at this point.

If your birds had been treated for scaly mites properly you wouldn’t even need to be thinking of airsac mites as the treatment is the same. Only difference is that some will say to apply the drop to the crop, air sac area of the bird’s chest. Also air sac mites live in the air sacs not the crop or digestive tract so would not cause vomiting.
Air sac mites are not all that common, unless the birds live outside and become infested from wild birds. More likely he has a respiratory infection, but you would need a proper diagnosis from a reputable vet.

I agree with Hezz, you should consult an avian vet regarding vomiting, how is he doing now? p.s. sorry I did not respond earlier, I had an an issue with not getting notifications from the forum, thankfully it's resolved now.

Marianne Marlow, I am on holiday, and I have boarded my birdies at the vet. I am going home today, and picking them up tomorrow.

Marianne Marlow, I am on holiday, and I have boarded my birdies at the vet. I am going home today, and picking them up tomorrow. Just so you know birdlover123, in order to tag someone you must type their name with this symbol - @ - in front of it. So it would look like @ Marianne Marlow for example. However, some people’s tag names are not the same as their visible name. So in order to tag Marianne, you would actually have to write @ admin - but without the space in between. You can hold your cursor over someone’s name to see their tag name on a computer, or click on the name if using your phone. But speaking of the vet - since you are boarding your birdies, is the vet also keeping an eye on them, checking their poop as he had wanted, or doing any other tests to see what the matter is with Bluey’s vomiting and Biscuit’s mites? Did you ask about the 0.1% Ivermectin as well, since the other ointment he gave you did not work? Just curious. I want your little birdies to be healthy!

Morgan- thanks for letting me know how to tag someone! No, the vet is not doing any of those things, I would not expect him to because he is the senior vet and the only vet that does birds, he is always busy. I am planning to ask him about Biscuit's mites and the vomiting tomorrow if he isn't busy.

I imagine the vet or assistant would be just checking on all boarders daily. So if anything were amiss, he’d probably spot it

Most likely a vet nurse will be checking the animals daily, and anyone worth their keep will be able to respond to any illness that may be presenting at the time.

Just came back from the vet after picking my buds up. I told him to check Biscuit's stool as it was fresh, it was all clear. He was very busy so I didn't have time to talk to him about the mites and vomiting. the bill was RM90($22.45).Biscuit and Bluey are very active, chirping loudly and singing. I noticed Biscuit has been flapping his wings but not flying. Why is he doing this?
