Hi, I have just purchased a budgie yesterday In a pet shop as my understanding first day For budgie must be very quiet and scare of anything which I will need about 1-2 weeks in order for her to get use to everything.
BUT this budgie act totally differently as her first day she is damn active climbing All over the cage and her action is kind of wired (different from the budgie I have which I adopted 2 weeks ago) . She is not afraid of me by putting my hand in the cage and even touch her for the first day. She bite the cage , over turn like a bat on the perches and keep turning round and round non stop for the full day.
To add on , she even “dive” Over turn, head down Into the seeds bowl and using her leg to kick all the seed from the bowl out of the “cage” . Very extreme
I separated both bird in a different
Is this normal ? Is it going to be difficult to tame ?

I don't think this is normal, when I first got my budgies they sat in the cage quiet and looking quite scared. Maybe she is already tame? Did the pet shop owner say anything about her being tamed already? the 'diving' into the food bowl is weird behaviour, my budgies never did that. Other people may have more experience.

My budgie did the head dive into the food bowl thing. He was doing summersaults on the cage floor at one point which was kind of alarming. This was after a week or two of having him though rather than straight away. At first he did fairly typical thin and scared behaviour.
I sometimes felt all that mad activity was 'trying to escape' behaviour. I'm not sure what offer in terms of advice but hopefully someone else may be able to suggest something. Certainly keep a close eye on him. Hopefully he is just going to be a very playful little budgie!

I have seen some female budgies do that with the food bowl.. like trying to run inside the food bowl throwing all the food out. That's a typical behavior of a female budgie at my mom's place.. and my female budgie hangs like a bat too.. on the swings and the cage top..
Rest, agreed with the above posts..

When I got my second bud he was a bit like that. He's a confident little guy who's in to everything and tries everything. My theory is that he must have been born in an aviary and was used to having a human in there, so not scared of people, and used to more space, so making the most of every opportunity to play. He used to hang upside down, stepped up in a twig from day one. He was only a 8 weeks old.

Ya I was having the same thoughts as u. Probably being tame or the one that I bought from the pet shop was being breed by the pet shop owner himself and guessing this little crazy cutie must be hand feed by the owner of the pet shop. My wife was asking me , does birds also have mentally issue too Haha To me I hope this is not because of any Kind of illness reaction which she is trying to hint me Thanks for sharing your experience

Does your budgie hang himself by using his beak bite onto the cage and keep twisting his body left one round and right one round plus 2 legs open up big ?

Does your budgie hang himself by using his beak bite onto the cage and keep twisting his body left one round and right one round plus 2 legs open up big ? No and I don't want to go giving him ideas!! He climbs round the ceiling of the cage multiple laps at a time. This is mainly in protest that I have turned the lights off and declared it bedtime. He has definitely done the bat budgie upside down trick. He is also quite willing to hang by his beak and dangle his legs around when dropping to the floor of the cage or hang off the cage with one foot and reach for things with his beak. I've also seen both legs waving in the air while the rest of him is in the food bowl. How is the taming going? Will he eat from your hand and step up onto it when offered? If so are you able to let him out somewhere safe for a fly to expend a bit of energy? Has he got toys to keep him busy?. Assuming he is just a little hyperactive he is going to need things to keep him occupied. Some budgie safe wooden toys he can put his energy into destroying might help?

No two budgies are going to react the same to the same situation, and I don’t see either behaviour as being abnormal. There also could be age differences and/or gender differences. What is perfectly normal for one bird will no be the normal for another.

Hi and welcome To me this does sound perfectly normal behaviour for a new budgie You may find some birds behave this way because they are trying to find an escape route or way out. Best thing you can do is keep the cage covered top, back and sides to try and calm them down as they feel like they are looking for predators from all sides. It will calm down in the end
