Hi all, can someone advise me whether I should bring my budgie to a vet.
I have just bought this 2 days ago and today I saw poo stick around her anus area . So I’m trying to clear up and realize her anus area have no feather about 5-8mm radius.
Pet shop tell me she is about 5month old she is very very very active even the first day I bought her home. She doesn’t seem to be weak or ill to me because she is too active.

It is normal for budgies to sometimes get the odd poo stuck on their feathers. If it is just one or two then I would leave them to sort it out themselves. They can preen their own bottom and pick off the poos. I am assuming the poo is still a normal small round ball and not diarrhoea?
If they are getting huge numbers of poos stuck, and by this I mean such that they form a ball 1cm ish big then you might have to act to help clean them up. I have seen this happen with show type birds who are unusually fluffy and feathered. The problem with this can be that they can get almost constipated as the ball of poo stops them from passing new poos.
My brother's bird when young had this issue and needed a trip to the vet to get his bottom feathers trimmed. He has since got into the habit of cleaning himself up by preening so it is no longer an issue.
As far as I am aware the featherless section you mention sounds normal to me.

blueelephant I occasionally get that issue with Yuki. I think he must have some show bird in his line because he's heavier of feather than the other two and his underfluffies (the white down) are huge! If droppings did get stuck then it's possible the feathers got plucked out when removing them. Keep an eye on it, I'd say. But I'd also always advise a vet visit if you have concerns.

Is the visible skin looking irritated? Red or inflammed? Is the skin broken at all? If not, that is good. To help both the poops sticking to the bird’s vent and any irritation that the stuck poops might be causing the skin, a smear of Savlon over the area can be of help. If it resolves itself in the next few days, fine, but if not you may need to find out the root cause of the poops not dropping. It may be due to the bird suddenly being in a different environment, stressing and possibly not drinking as much as it should. If the problem resolves once the bird is more settled then it is most likely a stress-related problem.
