I have a budgie who is tame but not 100% trusted to hands. However, a few weeks ago he started loosing feathers in his right wing and he couldn’t really fly so he was crawling around his cage to get to places. Now he can’t even jump anywhere and keeps falling of if his perches if something is too far away. Then he is really tame and let’s us pick him and and hold him and put our hands on top of him. Today I noticed that every time I put my hand in front of him he climbs into it, lies down and bites me (but not constantly). Is this some thing to do with affection or is it something else?

Is he biting you hard? If so, don’t let him get used to that or it could become a habit. He may just be seeing what you are made of. Budgies don’t have hands and use their beak for exploring the world around them. Would you grace us with a photo of your bud? Is he losing his wing feathers as part of a regular molt, or could he have a condition called French Molt? Photos of his wings would be helpful to provide you with further information if you wish. Lastly, he may be more tame now that he cannot fly because he is vulnerable and needs you to help him get around more easily. Be careful though - just because he will let you pick him up and cover him with your hands while he is vulnerable does not mean he necessarily likes this. He could actually be enjoying this form of attention, but try to see from his body language if you can, and from his perspective as a prey animal that is much smaller than you, so you can keep his trust even after he regains his flight.

Can you post a photo of your budgie so that we can see if he looks well. Especially of the areas that he's lost feathers in.
If he keeps falling off his perch then you should get him to an avian vet.
