Hi there, I have two albino budgies: Popcorn & Kernel. Kernel recently laid 4 eggs (on Jan 1,3,5,7) and it was quite the new year's surprise, but two days ago we saw them cracked and thrown out of the nest: they were empty, infertile. Now it's been a few days and she is breathing a little heavier, and I don't think she is egg bound from what I can see on the internet, but also not sure. I also cannot find an avian vet in NYC, it's also freezing winter. Any tips for home remedies? Thank you!

A hot steamy bathroom “sauna” and a warm water bath may help. Also liquid chelated calcium - though if you don’t already have it on hand it may not arrive in time - if she is actually egg bound. allbirdproducts.com/products/calciboostHezz and wocal may be able to help further

You cab tell especially easy with budgies you just have to look at the abdomen area. Idk how friendly she is with you but get ahold of her and feel for an egg. If she is acting lethargic and doesn't resist then she probably is egg bound.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l8Vf4TB6ww&t=484s
Here is a video that I watched when my cockatiel was egg bound and I had to save her the same way because I had found out when I came back from a trip and it was night and there wasn't a vet available. The only thing I would add to this is get a bowl of warm water and have her sit in it so she can contract.
Then if you get the egg out then you need to keep her warm with some type of brooder set up because they are using all there energy trying to recover.
