Some come apparently already infected, apparently, but this thread is not going to help you with your budgie, bobby. Putting it up in a different place is not going to give you a different answer, sorry.

Just wondering since vitamin C kills most molds could I wash it in orange juice? (no sugar added in juice of course)

I wouldn't put my faith in orange juice. F10 or vinegar solution, I would try. But I don't wash mine, anyway. If it looks dodgy I am going to chuck it, not risk it.

I've never heard of FS10 before but it makes sense. Oh and your millet spray on the table looks very different from the millet spray we buy here. Maybe a different variety - same colour though.
I won't buy millet spray or seed from the supermarket in New Zealand any longer. I have opened up packages of both and the millet spray has mould spots on and smells mouldy, and the seed in the packet smells dodgy. Instead in NZ I have been buying a brand of seed called Top Flight which is well packaged and looks very clean and smells fresh. The shop also sells great bundles of sprays too, but I haven't purchased one in ages for Smokey. I heard that if they eat too much at once they can bloat up and die, and since then I've been worried because he is an overeater!

It's more loose, not in a tight wrapped clump. The problem is that a lot of millet is now sourced from China and comes out on ships. There's plenty of time for contamination from the storage in China, the storage on the ship, then the warehouse storage once it arrives here and gets packed up for distribution. Not to mention how long it spends in a pet supplies store or supermarket. I don't give my bird large clumps of millet or even a whole stem. I cut off small pieces just as a supplement to his mixed seed and fresh food.

By the way tinker, if you're in Karori you might have a backyard. You could try growing some fresh millet from the seed and also try growing the regular seed. I managed to grow both in a pot, but it would be much better and easier in a real garden.

Hi can I please just double check because I have just today brought home our new budgie that once the millet sprays have been left in the FSC10 for a few hours there is definitely no need to rinse with fresh water afterwards. I am just scared of poisoning our new baby bird with chemicals. Thanks
