If they both have red eyes, they are albino. Many albino budgies will show what is known as suffusing, where the base colour of the bird shows through slightly in certain light. It is not uncommon at all.

Lovely buds, snowylily. I didn’t know that about albinos, Hezz - very interesting. Can I ask you about the cage there? It looks like it is constructed out of hexagons. I have wondered if it is possible to have this kind of arrangement - presumably you can adapt the final shape according to space available. Where did you get it? Thanks.

Thanks Birdguhl, the cage is a Geo cage by Omlet. It is so spacious for them and also very practical with a clever feeding gadget in the center to control mess. They are able to fly from perch to perch and seem very happy in it. I don't think you can create a larger version though, it's only available this size.

Hexagons tessalate, so if you bought multiple then in theory you could attach more pieces together, but the base wouldn't be changeable.

I’ve seen these advertised and don’t like the look of them. Birds need corners to be able to hide in and any sort of cage that doesn’t give that is not the best for the bird. They can become anxious with not having a corner to go to,plus new birds do need to have a safe corner to retreat to.

Do you think covering one side to create a safe space, and maybe putting a few toys next to a perch up high on the covered side could be a good substitution for this? Sort of, creating a “corner” inside the cage?

My birds tend to use their bath tray as their 'corner'. The cage actually has lots of corners, but they are obtuse ones. I think it would be easy to make proper nooks if you wanted to. We've only had our budgies for five days and they came from a large aviary. They are both very relaxed and happy considering the change of environment. So I don't think the cage shape has caused any issues.
