Is there such a mutation?
Not able to put up a picture at the moment, but I have a couple of blue and white dom pieds and the markings on their head, back and top of the wings is grey.
They are from showbird stock and the breeder mentioned Whitwings.
Just wondering what type to call them.

I am trying to do something about a picture and would love to post one.
(I have vision problems and unsteady hands, so taking pictures is a bit of a trial, plus the little darlings won't stay still long enough for my poor eyeballs to focus:))
I tried this morning on my mobile to get a picture and think I managed to get one:) When I get time I will try to resurrect my photobucket account.

This is a picture of when they were babies taken with a flash so look very turquoise rather than the lovely blue they actually are. The male, Jimi, has one purple cheek patch and one white one. When the girl, Joss, was little she had blue cheek patches, but they are now purple. Now I have found out how to put up a picture, I need to read my mobile phone manual on how to get the picture on my phone transferred over to the PC - then I will put up a recent one (which will be blue instead of turquoise).

They are both beautiful and sure are Dominant Pied Greywings. Glad that you figured out how to post pictures. We'll get to know more about them

They are absolutely beautiful, Lupin! I love those subtle shadowy markings that these mutations get. What a gorgeous pair - are they related to each other?

Thanks Hezz, when I first got them I was overawed with their beauty (and thought they were both boys).
I am unsure if they are related, there is a three week or so gap in their ages. The breeder had several Whitewings pairs at the time. My 2 had a rogue Greywings gene so I think they had a parent in common really.

They are so similar to each other. Where did you get them from

Yes they are very similar except the girl is a slightly lighter blue and doesn't have such a pronounced even separation where the white underbelly starts and is a bit smaller. The boy, Jimi gave me a six inch long tailfeather on his last moult and girlie Joss has just given me a four-and-a-half inch one. My son had been chatting to one of his workmates one day about how his Mum was looking for a budgie or two and the chap said he had a few babies from his Whitewings pairs that didn't 'make the grade' for being Showbirds as there were some rogue genes showing through and some of them had imperfect markings and I was welcome to come and see them. I rushed out to buy a cage and a couple of days later had those gorgeous angelic babies in my livingroom. I am still gobsmacked at how beautiful they are

It was their similarity that made me wonder whether they were from the same clutch. You are one lucky lady there, Lupin. I hope son has been justly rewarded for opening his mouth at the right time?

He sure has Hezz ;D His children were with us when we bought the birds, so Jimi is a similar name to his elder son and Joss is a similar name to his younger son (but Joss was supposed to be a boy budgie which has not impressed him too much )
