Made a green sauce for the birdies using: Fresh coriander leaves Fresh mint leaves 2-3 Carom seeds Very tiny piece of cinnamon Fennel seed powder Cayenne pepper Blended everything and deep freezed it. I use it occasionally and mix it in the birdie soft food due to all herbs. It's one of the popular green chutney used locally over here with addition of salt and lemon.

I have to prepare wheat chapati almost daily for lunch and dinner. We don't add ghee or salt in the dough. So, just thought of making some mini version for them. They did stare for a while at it, then gave it a try. Breezie eats it well. Cookie eats a bit and uses the rest of it as her shredding toy.. Today, I just broke a piece from my wheat chapati and gave it to them π

Those all look yummy! Doesn't it feel great when they eat something we make for them?

tweetiepiesmom Thank you and Yes!! I love it absolutely when they just go for a new food item. They have got so better at accepting new food now. Sometimes breezie screams at me or calls me out for something else (staring at me followed by contact calls and staring at my hand) and I wonder what else to give to them. The grass growth is slow over here..i had been thinking if it wonβt grow. I saw one or two saplings..so, hopeful 𧑠If they don't like what I present to them, they scream a lot that I have to get it out of their way π
π I do remove every thing in an hour though, due to summer time. blueelephant Thank you for your kind & sweet words. I really love making something for them and then can't stop wondering what did they like so much there. I have never liked any raw green leafy veggies.. now they smell delicious to me.. things birdies do to our mind ππ§‘π

It almost makes me hungry! I bet the chutney is so aromatic and tasty. What lucky budgies Breezie and Cookie are.

ariella You got it right. The chutney is very aromatic.. I tasted it too, but we humans, depend on salt and lemon too much !ππ
They are really spoiled birdies.. Sometimes, I just want them to leave me alone, when I'm out of food ideas..then I just bribe them with millet spray bauble or millet seeds, but birdies "never forget" π

Theyβre so worth the extra effort for the joy they bring us, arenβt they? I have to say though, you really go above and beyond and itβs inspiring what you create for them. ππ

Birdies inspired me to be creative to feed them a variety by hook or crook ππ

I'm not sure if all of this would make sense.. i have tried thinking some birdie version of our local recipe..and I still don't know how to enlarge photos over here.. π They are good with raw veggies and green plants. Just for variety and to include a few things they won't eat raw, thought about cooking them.. some on my list are fenugreek seeds, yellow mustard, quinoa and I'm pretty doubtful about brown rice too.. Maybe using some of these ingredients in the above cooked food or a birdie bread or cookie..

I usually just chop up or set aside unsalted a little of whatever fresh or cooked food Iβm preparing for the day, or use frozen mixed veggies in a pinch when Iβm not eating something they should have. I try to eat a wide variety of greens and veggies myself anyway, but Iβm certainly not perfect - and they do help keep us on track! My presentations are never as spectacular as yours though mona! I just add herbs here and there with their regular chop or egg. Youβve turned their food into five star birdie restaurant meals!!

That's quite a compliment Morgan! I throw things randomly too on some days.. and arrange the things they like as top layer for them to try other things.. The presentation is more for me than for them.. π I don't think they are interested at all in it & would just happily hop in whatever the state may be.. ππ
