The swing war continues. I put a second swing in but they'd rather fight over the one. Usually Buddy hops right onto it at dusk. After I cover them, I'll hear the squabble. Sometimes Tweetie Pie is successful in chasing Buddy off. Buddy then goes to a perch slightly below the swing but offset from it. He turns his back so that when he puts his head in his wing, he's looking at Tweetie Pie. Tweetie Pie also turns so he'll be facing Buddy when he sleeps. The problem is that in the past couple of nights they have lined themselves up so that Tweetie Pie is pooping on Buddy's tail all night! Ugh! Clean your tail Buddy!

Hilarious! It sounds like they are keeping a very close eye on each other, just in case an opportunity for the coveted swing arises, even if it is the middle of the night

We had a major earthquake tonight around 8pm - quite a jolt. Nothing fell off a shelf or off the wall but the windows rattled big time. I'll have to take a closer look in the daylight.
Buddy was so frightened! He was clutching onto the cage bars with both feet and his beak. I uncovered the front of his cage and talked softly to him. He moved around a bit still hanging on the cage. Tweetie Pie didn't seem to be bothered much - he was sitting on a perch watching Buddy. After about an hour Buddy hopped back on his swing. As my Irish friend says, "Poor little mite".

I just read about the earthquake in the news. That’s two recently isn’t it? It must be very scary for them when it happens. Really glad nothing fell down or was damaged. Are they something you get frequently?

Fortunately ariella my house sits on a land formation that seems to dampen the earthquake shocks so I don't feel them. When there is an earthquake my neighbors and I feel nothing but the people who live in areas around us do feel it. We really felt that one - the whole house shook. The epicenter of the quake was maybe about 10 miles away so quite close to us. I'm letting the boys sleep in. Buddy hasn't called to me to uncover them. Its about 7:45am as I type this.

Thank you. Yes, they both seem normal this morning. The experts say there is only a 5% chance of an aftershock at a greater magnitude than the original in the next two days. After two days, aftershocks typically drop off significantly. We've already had a few very small aftershocks that no one felt.
Poor little Buddy was sleeping on the swing. I think the jolt most likely threw him off the swing.
Everything looks good in my house this morning. I have some miniature figurines on a shelf that fell over but didn't break.

Glad the figurines didn’t break. Poor Buddy. He must have wondered what on Earth was happening. Glad all is well and no aftershocks.

Thank you. I think the quake tossed Buddy out of the swing. Fortunately it didn't put him off using the swing!

You can see Tweetie Pie in the background ignoring Buddy.
