So,it turned out that my spouse tested positive for Covid.. and I have got all the symptoms too (though I couldn't secure a Rt PCR test for myself, due to long waiting - another one is after 2 days..and the one today didn't happen)
Anyways, my spouse isolated.. and we have been in separate rooms till now, with budgies in my room. But now, I'm showing the symptoms too.. so just wondering if there is some risk to them. The third room is very hot.. but if there's a risk i can move them there with the cooler..
There's no one else to care for them. So atleast I have to change water and add seeds for the time being, which is possible due to home treatment for the time being.
PS: Surprisingly, we didn't panic, just going with the flow & doing whatever is required. Staying optimistic already and we'll get well 🧡

I’m really sorry to hear you’re both suffering, I hope it’s mild and clears soon. Can you take anything to ease the symptoms?
I haven’t heard of anything spreading from humans to animals, so fingers crossed it can’t/doesn’t. Perhaps wear gloves to add a bit of reassurance for you? when changing things for them?

I haven’t seen anything regarding Covid in birds, although believe I saw something about dogs or cats last year, so I’m sure they’ll be fine with you, especially if you wear your mask when feeding them. I hope both you and your spouse will only suffer mild symptoms and get well soon. It must be horrible to be in separate rooms and go through feeling unwell on your own. Absolutely love your positive outlook and I’m sure you will both be well again soon.

First, so sorry to hear that you and your spouse caught covid and I hope you recover completely and soon.
Secondly to whether your budgies can catch it, recently I attended a webinar given by an avian vet and that question was discussed. The answer is no. He said parrots cannot catch it. (Dr. Tom Tully, avian vet who practices and teaches at Louisiana State University) He said if you have covid, practice good hygiene, wash hands before and after handling the birds and limit touching them. Same when handling their food and cage. If they don't freak out, wear a mask around them.
There have been cases in the US of mammals catching covid from humans (Bears and tigers and gorillas in the zoo) but no birds.

I shifted rooms just to be sure. Birdies are in separate room now. Will take care about mask and hand sanitization.
My hubby should be recovering.. he stopped getting fever.. I'm yet at the starting phase with fever cough n bit of breathing trouble.. The doctor prescribed me covid meds with my symptoms without rt pcr test.. the test might take a while.. It'll pass 🧡
