Thank you everyone for all the good wishes.
I couldn't wait longer and have let them together. Two to 3 food bowls and water bowls at each corner of cage to avoid fight over food.. and similar perches at each ends.. I don't want to separate them again now. Breezie is looking better..and at least can balance on the perch without his feet slipping.. Climbing on cage bars, curling feet to tuck in, completely sitting on right feet, stepping down on cage base is something which he isn't able to do.. but I guess it will be okay in few more days/weeks..
They were very cuddly once back together.. Breezie can't stop his head bobs and singing.. Too much to tell Cookie.. He is always the affectionate one! 🧡

Sounds like they’re happy to be reunited and you’ve done all you can to make it harmonious. Really hope all continues to go well, with them and you and your OH too.

This is their first reaction on getting back together...
They both can't stop head bobbing, singing and showing affection to one another.
However, at sleep time, I had to interrupt cookie 4 to 5 times not to chase Breezie. Finally they went to sleep after an hour..

So lovely to see them happily together again and such a relief that you and OH have negative results now too. Fingers crossed for a full recovery very soon.

That's so sweet! It looks like Breezie has good balance standing. Hopefully he just keeps getting back to his old self.

Just catching up, sorry to hear all what's been happening.
I have just had Harold inside the other week as he too wasn't using his foot, his right one. Kept it up constantly. He came inside and had flat perches for a good week, he has testicular cancer and I thought it may have been something internal pressing on a nerve as there was nothing visibly wrong, but he is right as rain now and using both feet. I am presuming he's pulled something somehow or sprained it. I wish they could speak to us to tell us what is wrong, would make things so much easier.
Look after yourself.

So sorry to hear about Harold. Breezie has been the same. He can perch on thicker perches now and balance.. the cage bars, feet curling and ladders are still difficult for him.. But at least he is doing better so he might recover more in coming days..
We are doing much better too now.. Thanks for the wishes.. 🧡

I just saw Breezie walk on the cage floor (with a plain paper base support) for the first time in days... The first time he tried to perch on flat surfaces, his entire feet would curl in a weird manner and he would fall down on his beak (that was really scary to watch)
He gladly perched on the flat food dish on cage bottom to eat.. there are other screw on food bowls near his perch too for convenience during these days, but he chose the cage bottom food dish. I have seen him climbing the ladder too..
He seems much better!!!! 🧡 He still can't curl his feet to tuck inside, perch on thinner items or sleep on that feet solely.. but yesterday, I saw him shifting load on the injured feet while trying to stretch the other feet..
This feels sooo good to see him on the road to recovery... 🧡😍 Thanks for the support everyone!!

Breezie had almost recovered, but he again has the sprain at the same spot. No sharp edges in the cage, night lamp at night for them to find food in midnight and cage cover doesn't touch the cage wall. Could have been crash landing during evening squabble for sleeping space. He used to sit like this the last time too. He perches normally too, but keeps his feet up most of the time. Sorry it's not a clear image..
This is when he perches normally for a while. I don't want him to injure the same spot repeatedly to make it worse again.. Edit: I have to separate them tomorrow. Cookie is bullying him and trying to dominate on all the perches. He seemed worse towards end of the day. Planning to move breezie to the old medium sized cage to minimize the risk of falling down from height. Just wondering does the logic of moving male budgie first in the home cage and then female budgie - would be required for old bonded budgies? Cookie needs engagement which is all set in the larger cage.. breezie needs peace and safety which can be done with medium cage. Later when he is completely alright - can curl his feet back, I'll let them back together. Will Cookie dominate and chase him in the cage?

Moving Breezie out for safety and then back in again when his foot has recovered will be fine. These two are a bonded pair, and know each other well. The problem only comes with moving a stranger into the hen’s cage. I liken it to having some random stranger coming in and living in your house without your permission. I wouldn’t be happy either. . Good luck with keeping Breezie calm and safe while he heals; it won’t be easy.
