We are all going to be tired in the morning. OH woke me just before midnight as the budgies went mad flapping around the cage. We've been up and down the stairs like a yo-yo after mad flappy noises for the last hour! Assume one in of them is having a night fright and the other is suffering along.
No idea what to do for the best. Just popped them both back up to their normal sleeping perch having extracted them both from the seed bowl this time. Have left a light on in the next door room. It is quite rainy so I wonder if that has set them off?
Oh and of course I now can't get back to sleep...

It’s also very windy here, so probably my is the rain and noises. Nothing worse, hope you drop off soon

My guess would be Finlay. Yuki used to have frights a lot.
We had this nonsense last night too.
I remember Peri having one once, and Munchy just sitting on his perch like "Whatever!". He may have still been asleep even, though with him it is hard to tell because his eyes are always open.

Hope they’re both okay and settled down in the end. Are you at work today or are you home-based? If at home, maybe you can sneak in a cheeky afternoon nap later.

Oh night frights are so scary as they can hurt themselves.
Hope they are okay today.
Was also very windy here last night.

They are both ok this morning thank fully. They both looked so scared poor things. It's been a very windy wet night so I suspect that is what set them off.
I also suspect Finlay was the cause and Barney was wondering what on earth was going on. I've only had this once before when my brother's birds came to visit and despite being in separate cages we had a great commotion one night with everyone ending up attached to the cage walls...
Fingers crossed for a quieter evening today!

Poor Barney and Finlay. I'm sure the only thing in tatters were your nerves.

Yuki's done it so many times that we just have a routine now. Munchy and Peri only did it once each. I half cover mine and they all settle, then when I fully cover them at least one of them decides they actually want to be somewhere else and think it's a good idea to fly when they can't see. Got no time for that nonsense anymore! 🤣 Glad that Barney and Finlay are no worse for wear after their midnight adventure.

Sorry, to hear that. Recently I put motion detection light in front of the cages before I go to sleep, so if they do start having a night fright the light shines on the cage and they can gather themselves. Then when they settle back to sleep it turns off. I had to use it when I went out of recently town for a couple days and I only had someone coming by and changing the food and water. I still use them ow and they work. You might wanna give them a try.

Poor budgies and you too! Buddy is the one who once in a blue moon has a night fright. Both end up clinging to the cage bars. I just sit beside them talking softly with a little light on. When they come down off the bars, I leave the front of the cage uncovered and the little light on and try to get back to sleep. Most of the time it is a cat meowing outside their window or another wild critter making noise that sets them off.
