She’s getting so much exercise and it’s lovely she has others to be around and play with. Sounds like she’s getting into everything now.

I know. I worry about that a bit because of Eve! Your floor is getting to be a popular meeting place Marianne 😂

Iris always has to make sure that whatever Penny has, she has too, so she likes to investigate. She’s getting so much exercise and it’s lovely she has others to be around and play with. Sounds like she’s getting into everything now.

Its interesting to watch very young children and pets. Does Eve get the concept that the budgies are living beings and not just another wind up toy? She must love watching them. Do any of them perch on her or try to?

I'm not really sure if she knows they are living beings. But I have seen her talk to them and also hold her arm up, like I do to Blithe. She knows some of their names - Blithe, Peter, Bertie, Iris and George. She also says "Don't worry Bubbies", so I must say "don't worry budgies" a lot when there is a loud noise and she's copying me! Ahhhh, so cute! How old is your daughter now, Marianne? I remember when my brats were toddlers. They reacted to the budgies very differently. Pitto loved sitting on the kids, then Biscuit would follow. The boys liked it, but my niece is still scared of Biscuit sitting on her (I don't think I posted up the video of Biscuit's first meeting with Toffee, I'll post it on Biscuit's video thread some day. You can hear my niece talking to them at the back). I was like that too, right up to my teens, I dreaded free flight time. Now of course I love budgies sitting on me!

She's 2 years and 3 months, going on a stroppy teenager. I expect she'll be slamming doors soon. I didn't even know you had kids. How old are they now? It's great that Penny is becoming more adventurous and it's very cute that the others are coming down to play with her. She must feel really happy with all the toys, and company and love that she has now.

I have no idea how to deal with kids around my birdies.. A friend's daughter visits us.. she is around 2 year old.. She gets so excited on seeing them that she screams with excitement and I'm wide eyed 😅🙈
We all try to explain to her to be calm around them.. 🙈 Our friend then takes her away and makes fun of me.. that I would be worried about them if this kid keeps screaming there..

Actually, Penny is pretty much ignoring the toys and waddling off to explore the room now she knows that she can! It's great that Penny is becoming more adventurous and it's very cute that the others are coming down to play with her. She must feel really happy with all the toys, and company and love that she has now. She's around the same age as Eve then. Eve has grown up with the budgies around her every single day, but I would never leave her alone with them. Blithe sometimes lands on the floor (he's almost 8 years old and gets tired sometimes when flying) and I have to "rescue" him. She generally just waits for home of us to help him, but if we were not in the room I can imagine she'd try and rescue him herself, but I wouldn't trust that. Yes at that age they can be so sweet and fun, but so difficult too! They're my sister's kids. I call them my brats (in an affectionate way!). Out of the ones that live with me, the boys are 7 and 8, and my niece is 5 and a half and tries really hard to be like me! Today she was reading my Famous Five book while she was eating, just as I do, even sitting the way I do. And then she said, Look at me. I'm being like you! 😆 🌸 I'm not sure if I could have read a Famous Five book at her age though! I still have to remind the younger two that Biscuit is a real animal and that if he moves away when they put their finger near him, it means to leave him alone. The eldest is well trained, and he likes to show the others how much he knows about budgie care! I wash the cage every Saturday, and they always squabble over who gets to help, although of course, it's faster if I do it alone! Then the boys will sit on the bed with Biscuit on the spare cage while I'm fixing up the main one, and get Biscuit to play Angry Ball or sit on their hand. And they're always amazed when I tell them Biscuit is older than them and most of their cousins! 😁

She's so sweet. Is she enjoying having George in her cage?
