My 1st liberation fae Dunfermline, the old driver had a nightmare after this bogging down the transporter and we had to be towed off the grass by some young lads with their jeeps

Well its been a long week, where I'm from we have had a rise in covid cases lately so while almost every other part of Scotland dropped to level 2 we stayed at 3 with added travel restrictions We had already been given permission to travel and race if we follow strict guidelines. Only the driver (me) allowed in the cab, all crates to be disinfected and accompanied with a signed form detailing the process and type of disinfectant used or they do not go on the transporter, driver only allowed out of the cab to open and close doors for the crates to be put on and before arriving at the next club I must disinfect any part of the lorry that might have been touched at the previous pick up point and also have to wear full ppe whenever I leave the cab at the clubs and once I've picked up all the birds there are no stops on way to racepoint except for fuel. Well as said long wait but as it looks like we are now going down to level 2 we are ok to carry on and its back to dunfermline today before we start heading to the longer races next week starting with Sedgefield

Seems to be now Sam thanks, luckily with it being mainly in younger people there wasnt many serious cases with the majority just mild symptoms. Yeah its scary when you start hearing/reading about the cases mounting up in your area but hopefully it turns out the same down with you and things ease up soon.

Moving oot of Scotland noo starting the longer races with a 200mile race from Sedgefield. Weather looking good for the weekend so I'll be leaving my house about 7.30am friday and hopefully after picking up the birds should be at the lib site around midnight. Aye mind my first race from Sedgefield the lorry developed a few problems 5 miles from the lib site, no mechanic but told it was a belt snapping that took out my powersteering and the water pump so nursed it to the site libbed the birds in the morning then phoned for a recovery truck and got a train home from Darlington

ron, in the video, how many birds flew out of the truck (just curious)? I did wonder, as well, but didn’t think to ask. That’s a lot of birds in one truck. ron, do they go quiet when all in together, or is it bedlam back behind the cab?

Hi Hezz, thats a small transporter, for a lot of the big races they are transported by artics, 15000 released at the Barcelona race last year. All depends really but most of the time during the journey they are quiet unless we stop. They get noisy the morning of the race especially when they see me emptying the water trays cause they know then its almost time to get out, the crates they travel in are quite spacious compared to the old style woven baskets they used to be released from though

In my ignorance, are there other artics from lots of countries at somewhere like Barcelona, all with a similar number of birds, and do they all get released at the same time?
