Hi ariella, Never seen any large liberations in person the most Ive seen was 6000 but woulnt mind visiting the Barcelona one, could time a holiday right and hope the wife doesnt know the race calendar , there are ususlly videos put up on youtube and i'm sure last years barcelona race is there. The birds are from France, holland, germany, belgium, uk and luxembourg and yes they all get released at the same time Haha, I don’t think you’d get away with her thinking it was a wee coincidence you just happened to be there at the same time! I’ll have a look and see on YouTube, thanks Ron. I thought 2000 was a lot to be liberated so for you to have seen three times as many that must have been quite a sight! Can’t imagine how many there must be and what it must sound like with so many pigeons being released from so many countries at the same time. I guess there’s a good chance of getting a splat of gratitude as they fly off!

Here's a video with the lads fae the Irish south road fed releasing 10,000, brilliant overhead shot of the birds being released at 1min 50 secs into the video, planning to go through tests this year for the artics and my aim hopefully is to convoy for some of these bigger races

That is quite astounding watching how quickly they they just disappear. What an amazing view from what I presume is a drone filming from overhead. Thanks for sharing that ron.

Glad you liked it , a few federations using drones to film the libs now but would need 2 folk in the lorry and the lads whinge enough about how much they pay me already lol Been a long day up since 3am with my granddaughter who went back to sleep about 4 leaving me wide awake so went to get the lorry ready and it wouldn’t start , supposed to leave at 8am didn’t get it fixed till about 12 o’clock then 5 hrs and 140 miles to pick up the birds then a 296 mile journey to Sedgefield racecourse just got in about 1.30am so hopefully get a quick sleep then release the birds in the morning and another 370 miles home

A few races into the season and the birds are getting fitter, Sedgefield is on average 200miles for most and the first doos were hitting home in under 4hrs while the lorry and me took just over 9hrs due to the bank holiday weekend traffic
