Delivered this morning and has been fully charged this afternoon. It looks really nice and there’s a choice of white or yellow light, so I’ll opt for yellow so it’s not too bright and see how they get on tonight samwiseg.

My mother in law gave me these lights for festival decoration sometime back.. but those are battery operated.. Never thought of using it for the birdies though..!!
I had a lamp with options to adjust the light intensity..though, sometime back the functionality broke and it's fixed on one.. Have been using that in birdie room.. It's yellow light too.. 💛

My daughter uses lots of battery operated candles, lights and fairy lights in her bedroom rather than have a naked flame up there. Even her guinea pig cage has fairy lights around it but she eats through the batteries. I bet everywhere looks amazing during Diwali, mona. Just tried it out and the night light can be dimmed or brightened too, all at the touch of a fingertip. These buds sure get spoiled!

That's great.. I love the brightness control option.. When my current lamp breaks down completely (not wishing it to), I will go for these next time!
I have tons of fairy lights in my balcony and bedroom too - but very few battery operated..
Most of the people are switching to electrical lights in diwali over here and traditional Diya 🪔 are lost somewhere down the line.. I loved the lights with Diyas, but used those before I had birdies with me..

I home educated all my children. Just about to start the GCSE years with my youngest in September and that’ll be my 17th year since I started. Just 6.5 official terms left to go. Don’t know where the time has gone. I didn’t much like it when everyone was having to homeschool due to Covid. 😂 I was always the ‘lady who home educates’ and then everyone was doing the same, though with a little (or in some cases) a lot of help from their respective schools. Anyway, way back when the children were primary aged, we made diyas. We studied every faith so they had an education and understanding of the main belief systems in each, or not in the case of humanists, etc. I’ll try and hunt out a photo of their diyas and what year we made them.
Regarding the nightlight - it did the job perfectly, gave the right amount of light and was still on this morning when I came downstairs. So a thumbs up!

Glad the night light has worked for you! And yes, all our budgies are spoiled.

Thanks tweetiepiesmom. We did a lot of craft when they were little. I asked them today and they can all remember making them. I don’t think they came with us when we moved house as we couldn’t bring every thing they’d crafted, especially as the kids were getting much older, but we have many photos of the things they did and made as children. It amazes me it was 15 years ago. I remember them making the diyas so clearly. A reminder of good times but also that I’m getting old.

I'm also amazed that you guys did something like that.. 😍 I love the ones with handles - they look like alladin's lamp.. They can be a hit over here, if people see that.. 🧡

Thank you mona. We did so much over the years with a nice mix of academics and crafting. Choosing to home educate my own children was one of my best decisions, though a lot of hard work. Incredibly rewarding of course, especially now I see how well my three adults are doing in their lives and careers and a privilege to have spent all their childhoods with them. I’d always try and bring in cross-curricular activities when I could and so we made everything from papier-mâché Kenyan shields, to face masks used in Ancient Greek theatre, medieval cardboard castles and Chinese New Year dragons, lanterns and so on and on. As they grew older it became much more academic but they were all taught to sew, including the boys, and to cook also, so life skills as well as everything else. Glad you liked the diyas. I couldn’t believe it was as far back as 2006. The years have flown!

ariella That sounds great! I never gave a thought about home schooling previously. But, hearing from you, it seems way better than the education imparted in schools these days and in our days too.. 🧡
