I think it’s lovely you get to take them with you to your grandparents and I bet they’re so much better-behaved and complete little darlings when they’re there. How is it rounding them back into the travel cage at home time? What a lovely sunny day there too! I’m going to enjoy this blog thread.

I thought this way I could just add my bits of nonsense instead of having to start a new thread for every vaguely different topic. Well, that's the thing. Absolute angels! I wanted to feel Indie and Yuki after I'd weighed them in the morning, so I caught all of them up to put them in the travel cage, because luring them in never works. To come home? 1, 2, 3, 4, all in. Tempt Munchy in with his favourite ball. Offer Indie and Yuki millet. Indie flew off once but went in the second time. Pippin is much more skittish so we took down the boing, leaving his only available perch at an easily accessible height on the windowsill, and he chose to land in the middle of the gym so I was essentially able to corner him between the travel cage door and the window, and then shepherded him in. Took less than 2 minutes.

Sounds like you are used to doing it and know exactly what works to get them in. I bet your grandparents love having them visit and watching their funny antics. What good little buds…hope they go to bed just as well every night. Hope it all goes okay putting the cage back into one.

I think my grandparents found them quite entertaining. And I think the budgies enjoyed the change of scenery once they found their perching places. They're not too bad. Sometimes one of them will be a bit iffy about going in, but other times most of them will have put themselves inside and be hanging out in the cage anyway. I just get easily wound up when they're not being co-operative. Poor birds. I'll have to take out all the perches and then drop the top tray down, but it should be straightforward enough. Looking forward to when we get the new perches. I trimmed one of Munchy's claws too short today. I generally avoid claw trimming unless necessary, but he kept getting repeatedly caught in the carpet. He was being so good, love him, and I finally found what appeared to be the offending claw, only for him to twitch the toe very slightly. I haven't cut the quick of a nail for years. :/ Fortunately I always keep cornflour on hand. He's fine, I just feel bad for hurting him, and he has this little stubby of a claw now.

They keep running around swapping bowls to see if anyone's getting a better deal. My granddad was surprised that I don't just put seed in and let them eat what they want, as that's what he and everyone else used to do when keeping budgies. But then his was a larger flock in an aviary, so constant opportunities to exercise and trying to feed that many birds an individual amount of seed each day would be practically impossible. We ordered a platform to cover the bowls but I might use it on the side of the cage and place them on it instead. Then we can change paper in the evenings rather than the mornings, and it won't be as in the way when changing the paper.

Took the toys out of the cage whilst rearranging and plonked them at the bottom of the bed. After cleaning everything I sat down for a bit before putting everything back in, only to find them all on the bed playing with pne of the toys.

I’m sure Munchy is okay after his claw being clipped. I seem to be head-clipper in this household and always have the styptic powder ready in case I need it. I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen pugs having nails clipped on YouTube but they scream. Well, our pug does that x10! It sounds like we’re murdering a pig when she starts. I’ve now got her a lovely nice quiet dremel and the screaming has thankfully ceased. Can’t say she’s impressed but at least she just does a sad face and a moaning noise now. Our other dog (not a pug) isn’t a fan either but we do ‘cookie time’ and if he keeps still after each foot he gets a ‘cookie’ - a banana flavoured treat. The things we do… Playtime on the bed looks fun! The ladder looks huge - like a giant beanstalk or a ladder into the clouds. 😂

What is that small offering mum has put out for us. We'll need more than that.

Haha! If only they would eat more! Indie always has such an expressive face! I hadn't taken any fresh foods with me but my nan had brought a salad box for lunch, so I picked some out for them and then got to bring the leftovers home for them, which they had the next day and filled 2 of their plates. They did also get some large dandelion leaves that my granddad picked from the garden for them. When he brought them in after washing them Munchy landed on his arm to see what they were being offered. The timing was surprisingly good with the bowls. Normally one of them does something to ruin a photo at the last moment! What is that small offering mum has put out for us. We'll need more than that.

Yeah, he seems fine. I just hadn't messed up in years, and never that badly. At least it wasn't his actual toe and the nail will grow back. Your dogs sound hilarious. We would never attempt the cat's claws, we'd lose fingers. My friend manages to do his cat's though. They like hopping up and down the rungs of the ladder. It goes in lots of different places. I’m sure Munchy is okay after his claw being clipped. I seem to be head-clipper in this household and always have the styptic powder ready in case I need it. I think we feel worse than they do if we catch the quick.
