Their home cage setup was pending since long (post relocation). Finally, I have arranged their cage yesterday. Birdies have loved all natural toys, so I have kept the entire setup as natural as possible. Only plastic is Cookie's swing, which she never chews on and that's her safe place since the beginning. The cuttlefish bone holder is also plastic.. not sure what else I could use instead of that. I got some loofah, bamboo stalks, areca stalks, sola wood for shredding. Tried using pines too, which we had collected during our trip to a hill station 6 years back & also again some time back (that hill Station had an area full of pine trees). I have removed Jute ropes too this time. Just used cable ties wherever required. Moved water bowl to the top to keep it clean, but still placed the food bowl on cage base, since the food dish is a wide plate. Have placed an upside down coconut shell to help with nail trimming, apart from natural perches. Will be hanging a home made seed treat over that coconut shell! I also got a small T stand for weighing scale. To get them used to it, I have placed it inside the cage itself. Will add weighing scale later. Though I'm good at craft work, but I'm really bad at making birdie toys. Made some feeble attempts though. Cookie breezie are in their larger cage today! Cookie is really brave. She went into the cage first on their favorite dowel perch, followed by Breezie. She is exploring the cage and has already started shredding natural perches, cuttlefish bone and ladders. She amuses me - sometimes she is afraid of everything & sometimes she is so brave! 🧡 I had to tear down the assembled tree stand while relocating. It's on the ToDo list too. The playgym I made earlier broke too during relocation. So, going to remake it.. that's next on my list, followed by Tree stand and few hanging toys/perches from the 2nd curtain rod I have installed in their room. PS: They are still in our room, due to hot weather, keeping them in the AC (though AC is at 30 °C

Invested my energy in rebuilding their play gym. The previous one was damaged during relocation - only the base & 4 pillars were left. I had a blast making this one. It looks really naive, but I think I'm getting better with every rebuild. 🙈 This one is the third time. Fingers crossed, if they'll explore it.. I have also got a thing for natural setup, apart from the birdies. Cookie will definitely shred these beautiful paper figures.. but those look so lovely there.. 🧡😍 It felt really good - stress buster and mood uplifting activity! 😍 I hope birdies feel the same & don't give me the opportunity to rebuild unless destroyed, not ignored 😅 The tree stand is still in progress, but Cookie came out of the cage yesterday, so I rushed to just tie two branches together, but they didn't come out today. Tree stand is next on my ToDo list! 🧡 That's Cookie out of cage via the side window and for the first time she stayed on the cage top, instead of flying to the fan. 🧡😍 They are moulting right now, hence the feathers!

It looks amazing. I want to play with it!! I find being creative is a great stress-buster also. Did you make the paper figures too? Strangely enough, I was making paper shapes today from some different crafting hole punches. I used them to cut out flowers, hearts and cherubs from a piece of orange card for an orange themed gift I’m putting together for my eldest son’s girlfriend’s birthday. She asked for orange gin so I’ve made up a gift bag with chocolate orange edible treats, a chocolate orange face mask, an orange candle, an orange bath bomb and refreshing orange body creme. The shapes are to be confetti in her card so they fall out when she opens it. I do like to be a little annoying. 😂 I found orange tissue paper to go in the gift bag and made an orange tag with paper flowers to add to the gift bag. Just as well she likes orange!! Lovely that Cookie stayed on top the cage. She’s such a bright, beautiful colour.

Great play gym, great gift bag.
My only creative bit was painting those wall art things, so not that creative and baking. That’s good for a stress buster, but then I eat what I baked and get stressed about my weight, lol

All looks good, mona. If I can make a suggestion regarding the cage door, I would either shut it completely or peg it open rather than have it just sitting half way for the birds to sit on. Not so they can’t sit on it, but rather so that it doesn’t swing shut while they are sitting on it as it could catch and hurt their feet and/or toes. If either flies over to sit on the door, their momentum may cause the door to swing closed. I’ve had that sort of thing almost happen and I worry for their feet, so now I have a couple of interlocking plastic rings that act as the door catch - one ring through the bars of the door and the other through the bars of the cage. Leaves the door open enough for the door to still be used as a perch.

I did clip the door with a cloth clip just after I saw the window door moving a bit with her weight & added a platform perch too there.. Normally, when I let them out, I place a wooden thin perch between the cage door bars and the cage, so that the cage door doesn't move. It was the first time, I had opened the window, so it took me a while to recall about doing the same for the window. For the side window, the stainless steel cloth clip works better for me, though I worry about the cloth clip ends.. I have covered all screws and cables ties with wooden beads..

ariella Would love to see that. That seems to be very nicely done. I have got those paper punches too.. 😍 I have an entire 3 door cupboard dedicated to art, craft and stationary 😅 I used to have an art desk at our flat, but then we relocated, so everything's inside the cupboard now. The art desk vibes were really good 🧡 I made those paper figures too. I had been making some paper finger puppets for a friend's little daughter, so just made a few for birdies too.. 🙈 ffiscool That's the same prb with me too 🙈 Now, I'm thinking how to deal with my happy fat 😅 I have never been interested in exercises, yoga is really very difficult & don't ask about the food cravings when you are at home..

I’m starting a part time job in a few weeks, at my old company. It’s a year fixed term contract. I’m hoping being that busy again/less bored, will help me eat less junk

I’ll pop a photo on when it’s all done. I’ve got an art cupboard in the study 😆 the top shelf is filled by the schooling textbooks and folders of lessons plans I wrote over the year but the rest is stationery and craft bits. How lovely you are making finger puppets for your friend’s little girl. I’m sure she’ll love them. I’m with you on both on the all-day eating. Last year I managed to lose weight by being fairly rigid with what I ate and as I loathe exercise, I got out the old Wii Fit, amazingly remembered how to work it and started exercising on there. To begin with it was a big hassle and I hated it but then I built up a routine to follow each day and by Christmas I could fit into anything. However, since then I’ve had various ailments preventing me from getting back into it. Next week we’re on annual leave so I’m going to enjoy that and then the plan is to hit the wii fit for three weeks. It’s our silver wedding anniversary and I thought it would be a good idea to unpack my wedding dress and put it back on for the first time in a quarter of a century. My not-so-good idea was telling the kids I’d do it and so I’m hoping the zip will do up! 😂😂😂 Good luck with your new job ffiscool.

ah Happy Anniversary!! I was set back from walking to burn off cals due to my broken toe which is a lot better but still hurts after all this time, but the weather is so bad, that I have not forced myself.
thank you, it is the same as I was doing before, but a different group of people to support.. thankfully still working at home, I would not have done it if it was going in regularly.

Meant to say it’s our anniversary next month so after our annual leave week, where let’s be honest I’ll eat too much, I’m going to be back on the Wii fit to burn it all off. I have broken toes twice and empathise. Over 20 years ago I caught a toe on my son's highchair and broke it and last year I stupidly dropped a very large pebble on my fourth toe, breaking it. They are so swollen, red, painful and impossible to bend or comfortably walk on for some weeks aren’t they! How did you break yours?

ariella My friend's daughter loved the finger puppets 😍 Since we can't visit each other for dinner or lunch together (self imposed restriction), we are sending food to each other's home, on occasions or otherwise when making a special dish. I would love to see your work when it's done. Also, all the best for your wedding anniversary plans 🤗🧡 I have a lot of restrictions on the kind of exercises to be done too, owing to health issues - that makes me more lethargic. I have to always search which ones I can do! ffiscool All the best for work! I wonder how I'll work again after such a long break!
