Hi I have a 4 week and a 3 week old budgie. The last time I ever raised budgies that young, they would usually peep to me and tell me when they're hungry, but these guys are not producing any sounds or indications when they're hungry. I have felt both their crops and it feels 50% full , should I force feed?

Depends on how many hours since the last time you fed them. if it's been hours since the last time they might have developed slow crop. you have to make sure they are pooping. Budgies around 3-4 weeks should be feeding about every 3-4 hour. Only taking a break at night for 8 hours. You an test there crops and also rehydrate them by feeding them pedialyte and see how they digest it. Another thing is at that age they need a brooder and it should be anywhere from 86-90 degrees F. Any colder and that will stop them from being able to digest correctly. They use there energy to keep warmth instead of digesting. If you can fill in those blanks of what might be able to see if you need to force feed a bird.

Hi round30281 and welcome to the forum I too am a tad concerned that these chicks are away from their parents at this young age. Would you mind clarifying how they came to be in your posession this young? Have you done this before? As they really are too young to be away from their parents unless tragedy has befallen them. Thanks
