Hi, I have 2 hens apparently (if I am to trust owner green is 8 months and yellow is 6 months old)! So, I have them for about a month or month and a half! Previous owners dont want to take care of them so they gave it to me as a gift! Anyways, I have a really hard time to get them to trust me and get on my hand! I read a lot and apparently having one to adjust when he is more than 6 months old is hard, let alone two of them! So far the only thing they allowed me to get close to me is when I have bar in my hand, and sometimes (out of randomness) they allow me to touch their feet or chest (usually in evening before bed time) however anything else they start running away and flyong off! What I've also noticed is that one of them is more relaxed to me than the other, and sometimes I have a feeling that green one would maybe even come to my hand if the other one isnt there, but when they are together I dont think I will ever be able to get them to come to my hand! Tried sepparating them in to two different rooms, but they were calling each other loudly for 30 minutes, and my heart was broken to listen to them like that :_( so i put them back together! Need help, if there is any help for them!

Lovely birds. Would you mind trying to get them a male to raise a family with, so you can have the joy of taming your very own baby bird?

They are both very pretty little girls. Mating budgies and raising babies is very time consuming and so much can go wrong. If the parents reject the babies, you would need to step in with the feeding and making sure the babies have the right brooder with temperature and humidity control. Even then the babies sometimes die. Are you prepared for that? There is no guarantee that the babies you raise will be your best friend.
Training budgies takes time and patience. Move slowly with your hand around them. Give them time to see what you are doing. Offer them a treat to get them to come to your hand. Don't get frustrated if they don't respond but keep trying. Whenever you are near them, talk to them so they get used to the sound of your voice. They will stop running from your hand once they trust that you are not a predator.

Agreed with tweetiepiesmom. Any bird can be trained and tamed with some effort. You need perseverance and patience. I have 2 rehomed budgies. It's been almost 1.5 years. They step up on my finger for millet inside the cage. Maybe sometimes play with a ball in my hand, depending on their mood, eat seeds or food from my hand and peck at my hand to nudge me for something. Just recently, they don't fly away if I approach their cage, when they are sitting on cage top and eat from my hand outside the cage. Budgies can't be tame within a few days. Some might, some might not. I have seen other birds being tame easily too. It depends on birdie persona and past experiences. Please be prepared for that and be patient. Looking at them in itself is amazing. Breeding them might need a lot of research and risks with it. However, as suggested above, they can be tamed slowly using the treat you use. Be slow and observe their body language. Don't go ahead with anything they don't like. Safe places to touch a budgie is head and neck at max. Touching at any other body part elicits sexual responses to the birdie - many social media accounts show that, but it isn't healthy at all. Also, just to mention, If you are impatient, they will sense your body language. They are intelligent creatures and judge us by body language, tone, eye contact and a lot more. All the best!
